DEWSBURY - W.YORKS
Am looking at buying a mk1 Leon Cupra over the next couple of weeks. Have plans for the usual mods, ie remap, tip etc.

Usually cycle to work most days from May to September as it's only 4 miles each way.

My question is as to how these short journeys will effect my Cupras running and general well-being. Allowing for the warming and cooling of car, the journey is 30mph roads with a 2.5 mile stretch of 50{?}mph dual-carriageway. My total milage will probably be about 500 miles a month, majority town driving[short journeys] with weekly 30 mile motorway trip, and of course a bit of fun thrown in!! Taking all this into account how many miles in your experiences do you reckon I'll be looking at from a tank of V-power?

I know this is a bit random, but I used to get approx 200 miles to a tank from my MK3 VR6 Golf, am I right in thinking I'll get a bit more from the more modern Leon?
Cheers guys and gals, Kev...............:)

you'll prob average about 25 mpg to be honest
If you take it easy ish you should see 30 mpg
A full tank is 55 litres so you'll get about 330 miles on a good run
You'll see better mpg with v power than unleaded too

i get mid to high 20s round town steady driving with the odd mad moment never seen much over 30 even on a good run. am i bovered NO if you want more buy an oil burner!

same as gazzy g. i have the 225 and during my working day i prob cover 50-60 miles. if im just around the same area i'll get 23 mpg but if im up and down the a38 i'll get back 33-35 mpg. I am burning 97 oc and have tried the 99 from shell but did'nt notice any dif. hope this helps

my bloody 1.6 doesn't have a trip computer, so I can't mock you all with my textbook figures of 40mpg.

Worth buying an LCR solely for that damn trip computer...

The techy, tragic part of me would say to record how many miles you get per full tank and then, using, Excel (other spreadsheets are available) work it out from there.

It's what I used to do - then I got a trip computer.

And a life.

:p

I drive 3miles each way everyday. I see around 20mpg

3 Miles - if you live that close to work - I'm jealous.

I'd also walk too :)

I generally avoid using mine on the short distances as it doesn't have time to warm up properly...and returns mid 20s at best on short hops to tesco.

Thinking of buying a scooter to go to the paper shop actually...

Your situ sounds identical to mine in terms of driving time and distances.

Had the Cupra 3yrs now, and on my trip to work, 4 miles, town driving.... i average 24-26mpg. If i put my foot down its low 20's.... if i drive like a granny itll do 30. The figures of mpg probably dont help... the best guide is that a full tank of Vpower got me on average 270 miles.

This was before the remap tho... and with power comes lack of (foot) control :D

Similar figures here in a 225, 6 mile round trip to work and its 300 miles tops but the bell is ringing everytime you turn the key from 270 ish. A roads and motorways 330 on a tank.
If you ve paid for it, why not burn it? Just got back from a week in Spain and the fuel gauge went down faster than a bottle of Alhambra 1925. If only the car equilavent was so powerful!!

See, I never put a full tank in it because that, coupled with my boot being full of camera equipment, must weigh in for a very slow, heavy little car :)

Unless someone can prove there's a reason to have a full tank (I have a petrol station 1 minute from my house lol) I don't think i'll ever find out how much I get from a full tank :)
