Hi
Having put a short shifter on my Cupra I'm used to a really short throw. Now I have a Cupra R
The throw seems long. Even though it's a short shift as standard.
Who here has upgraded their LCR and was it worth it? Will I notice a big difference once a Forge version is fitted?
Thanks.

Short shifter does seem to be a popular mod, have a search for some threads.

What I done though is change the bushes at the gearbox end for some I bought from awesome gti. Tightens the shift up nicely.

So I have gone with the cheapo version of the forge shifter as threads on here say it works fine.
£28 quid on fleabay
Worth a punt.

I've looked at these,
Just goes to show on some parts you can really see how much extra you're paying for the name and bragging rights.
Shocking really because it shows there not about tuning...more about money.
Simple part like this that big company could knock out for cheap but would rather have what 200% mark up so profit is as high as can be.

How was the ebay short shifter in the end? Thinking of getting one.

Also curious about these. A block of the same grade alloy with or without a logo is just the same thing, was looking at ebay ones recently too.

Dodgy ebay one (about 30 quid from memory) and solid bushes, been on LCR for ages just forgot about it . The only thing I would say about mine is that the finish wasn't so good and had to clean it up a bit (gold in colour) - really sharp edges and rough areas.

I know the ones you mean ha. did you get the bushes elsewhere?

Stop messing about and do it properly

As soon as I am up to point of rebuilding I am going for one of these

Do it.
Perfectly good. Works as all the others do.
If it was my choice I’d have it even shorter.
My first one on my LC felt just a little shorter but maybe that’s just my imagination.
Anyway this version saved a few quid instead of the forge version.

And what about a DIY short shifter? Are they easy enough to do? With all this free time I'm thinking to give it a go and save the £40.

Yes guides are available too simple. Needs a drill and a bolt if I remember right.
Saves the money. Does exactly same function. With any luck you can get it shortest possible too.
Still think the eBay one may not be as short but can’t be sure. Think you get used to it.
But with my old LC it was so short it looked to be in neutral permanently. That was a forge.
Loved it.
