Find a friend with small hands, and you can do the sidelights in 5 minutes without taking off the bumper.

I do mine all the time, as my car seems to go through bulbs for fun.

As for sidelights bud you have a 1.2 like me , Its a peice of piss for sidlights,

1: Open you bonnet.
2: Find you headlight covers
3: Too the left of that is another smaller cover ,Or right depending what side of the car you are on, (Thats what you need)
4: Theres 2 metal clips unclip them both and pull cover off
5: Find the sidelight by pushing the wire in and look for movement on the sidelight
6: Gently pull the wire until it and the bulb pop out
7: Pull the bulb out and replace
8: Push it back where it came from
9: Put the cover back on , This can be fidly as i found out.
10:Clip both metal clips back over.

Hope this help'd you out bud!

I agree. Oh wait I'm not a sheep. Apologies for my genuin spelling mistakes, I was in a hurry, the missus was kicking off about me having to reply again to yet another useless thread.

Anyway, my reply is valid still no matter how many new members reply crying otherwise.

I welcomed the young un didn't I? As for 'our' forum, its isn't your forum, nor mine!

N00bs getting all uptight, bloody hell!

look i can see where these guys are coming from, and they are not trying to slay the newbies but just trying to help them along their way untill they get the hang of all this

anyway, its quite easy to change the sidelights are fairly easy to change i changed mine infront of the police one night. i did have bright blue bulbs(have seen the error of my ways)

hope you get your lights sorted then

all the best people

taking no sides here, but the rules do state no text speak (or txt speek).

Upon signing up to SCN you agreed with the rules outlined, found here:
http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?t=40247

I've seen a comment about text speak and mis-spelling. TBH, you can tell the difference between the two.

side lights .... i need a new side light for my car ... i was wonderin can yu get halogen side lights or not? does any1 kno where i could get some from?

The above is the first post. Red = Text Speak, Blue = Spelling Error.

Reading the thread, the guy doesn't seem as bad as others when it come to text speak (other than "thort")

Nick_J: yes, T. Spark spelt "including" wrong - that is an error, not text speak. Errors happen now and then. "n00b" is "leet/l33t speak". An internet language. This is different to text speak. LOL, FTW, BRB, ASL, IIRC all started on forums etc.

As for the original post, no I don't think you can get halogen bulbs. Just pop along to UltraLEDs and get some 9 LED cool white ones from there ;)

To be fair it should be pretty easy to see how to replace sidelight bulbs.
If your hands aren't boney enough to get the other cover off.. It's surely pretty obvious the light needs to come off.. Doesn't come off with 2 bolts.. The other 2 MUST be under the bumper.. Bumper maybe has to come off then!?

The thread is a bit pointless and I'm suprised the usual "use the search" hasn't come about, bet it's been asked before!

rocky decided to have a stab at Tom. saying he had nothing better to do, Tom pwnt him. Sparky's reply was hilarious and if he takes offence to what either said.. He's needs to be acquainted to the way internet forums generally work.

Text speak is homo. That's why it's in the rules not to speak with it ;)

Ah just seen other references to T's "text speak" - People can make typos, that's a different kettle of fish entirely. You're likely to see the odd letter missing.. And acronyms I'm sure everyone uses..

It's not about scaring Newbie's away, its encouraging them to ask questions that make sense. In turn this aids the long-term knowledgeable members (who built the forum in the first place) to help them.

In turn those newbie's hopefully gain knowledge and become equally valued members.

Some newbies obviously think that car forums should be about cruising, max power, and disrespecting the law. But that has never been the aim of SCN and never will be so if that's the kind of site your looking for, then I suggest (being polite) that you bugger off.

All we encourage is good communication, and some proper English. It's not a spelling contest, nor is it important that grammar should be perfect. But txt spk is simply lazy and it doesn't encourage people to give the poster any help.

I get emails sent to me in txt spk asking my help with forum issues. I don't bother to reply, I simply can't be bothered to work at that level.

My actual answer to the original question has been deleted.

I agree with dift, it is possible to change the headlights without the front bumper being removed, ive done this on a tdi also, which has no room at all!

DO NOT loose the metal clip that hold the back cover on though, I found its best to remove the clip altogether rather than let it sit its tiny location hole, as when you're fiddling with the bulb or putting the back cover back on, its prone to ping off and get lost in the engine bay.

You can access the dipped/full beam without removal but im pretty sure that the sidelight is in a real awkward position, making access to change bulbs extremely difficult.
May be different on the lower models, but i recall a friend with a 1.2 saying he had to remove the light.

I have been trying to change one of my sidelights I think its very much the same as the passenger side headlight if you are a mouse you might be able to squeeze your way in but if you have human hands then forget it.

Wouldnt do any harm i guess. Only thing is i believe that they are not road legal?

May be wrong but I'm sure a few people have been pulled up for them.

I've looked at getting a set of LED side lights also...

All the LED kits I've seen so far, on the front of the packaging (or back), it clearly states "NOT STREET LEGAL - FOR SHOW USE ONLY!"

.....self explanatory really!

Whether you get pulled or not will ultimately come down to the policeman (or woman) that see's you using them, and if they are busy at that time, or if they want to waste 30 minutes of theirs and your time, giving you a lecture.

Good for you. ;) Well some of the kits I saw had that written on the packaging...
To be honest I'd go with the White kit also, alot less risk of getting pulled, unless you do go for some random colour!

I've previously tried removing the side lights with everything intact (ie bumper / light unit) and made a right mess of it - ended up crushing the sidelight holder! There physically isn't the space - so I've virtually given up on the idea of replacing the OE units with LED's.
