I heard from the dealership that my side mirrors were meant to go down to see the kerb when reverse gear is engaged... since ownership they have never done this..any ideas?

Set the mirror switch to L and put the car in reverse, lower the mirror to where you want it to go to. Reverse your car then when you drive away it should reset to its normal position when you get up to speed. If you keep the switch set to L then the passenger side mirror should lower each time you engage reverse.
The instructions are in the handbook but it says R instead of L!
Make sure it is enabled in the settings on the dash display first.

Mine sort of did this, the first time I used reverse it worked then after I had played with everything it was no longer working. I guess somehow I must have reset it so that the rotate down offset was nothing!
Turn the ignition on but don't start the engine.
From the CAR menu make sure that 'mirror lower when reversing' option is ticked.
Make sure mirror control switch is set to L.
Engage reverse.
Disengage reverse. The mirror may stay in the down position until you move away forwards.
Seems to have sorted it for me, now it always lowers the mirror when I select reverse.

I don't seem to have this option in the menu either, very frustrating as I thought it was a standard function.
Car is a late 2013 Leon 1.8 TSI FR.
Thanks for info, that explains it then. Not the end of the world, I guess we take it for granted cars will have these little features these days.
It was a bigger disappointment that it didn't come with flappy paddles, as later cars do. It's my wife's car and neither thing bothers her in the slightest though.
So this basically means that in order to have heated mirrors you need to set the switch on mirror heat setting and select R/L setting (depending on LHD/RHD) to have the mirror going to kerb setting on reverse?

I don't think it is possible from the menu, I may be wrong but I don't recall to have seen anything.
My left mirror goes down in reverse when on L but it does go back up when not in reverse. I have to put it back to 0 manually. Personally I don't think it's an issue.

Thanks for your reply, I think the way kerb reverse is working is fine.
Although I slightly dislike having to set the mirror knob to heat settings and would have prefer heating on all settings depending on outside temp and if the back window heating is on. But this is a very minor remark ;-)

I've tried this twice now and can't get my head around it. I'll have another go later I think. Is it a useful?
