Right so I've got some after harping on about it on here for so long, the lenses fit fine but, and i knew this already but the bulb casing that you plug in is too small. How can i make these fit, can i buy the plasticy bit the bulb goes into from vw maybe?

basically what you can do is chop the existing wires and solder together. the other more difficult option is to buy new bulb holder from the golf (dealer said they were 5 quid each) and then get the new metal bits that hold the bulbs and fit it to the wire. its quite looong....

IMO I'd go for option B the "buy new holders with metal doohickies (spade connectors) less messy and no chance of getting hot solder on your lovely paint work.

Failin that you can get wiring clips from electrical shops which can be used to "fix" the new unit to the old wires without having to fiddle with said doohickies.

I wonder why seat have never retracted theri heads from urANUS and just made crystal side reapeaters..

Hey my first helpdul post. <--- Hopefully :)

seems your trying to do the 'opposite' to what Ive done Aimez, I have a mk2 ibiza now sporting a nice shiney set of non orangey looking crystal repeaters from a polo... being a 'dab-and' with a Stanley Blade..... *leeeeave itttttt!! * , I just whittled the thing to shape... your best bet is to get a pair of mk2 style buld holders from either a scrappy or a dealer cut the existing ones off and use 'Scotchblok' connectors to rfit the 'new' connectors
:)

there are crystal side repeater in some ibizas, seen em, but these are smoked ones, i was obsessed with getting them!

£5 from vw dealerships seems bloody ridiculous! i think i might go to the scrappy and find a polo or similar VW that is listed for these repeators and take apart the side repeators (unlikely to be damaged i hope) if i cant be arsed then il buy some, don't fancy welding the wires i havent welded anything since college and will end up wrecking the paint as said!

Brummy what you said just confuses me I know nothing about electrics as you can tell from my rubbish description in the first post!

cheers people i hop i can sort something?!!

what i did with my cordoba was to drill out the smaller bulb hole.bit of silcone to hold and seal the bulb holder and off you pop.
if the bulb goes just remove the silicone refit bulb and silicone back in.
just don't drill to far in or you will fook it up.

Aimez... sod the 'welding' as you s oeloquently put it!! just use Scotchbloks. they are the little blue (usually) push fit connectors ..Or use smal elctrical connectors, (the ones where you just put the wire into the block and screw it up tight)....

scotchlocks/blocks are :w4nk: thats just lazy, and usually get a bad connection or cut the wire completely.if you are going to re-wire,do it properly.

you do know that you can get them to fit the bigger bulb aimez?and save all this?
mk4 polo chrome ones i had on my old ibiza.
just junk/e-bay the wrong ones.

its the way i learned.i made the same mistake as you,how the **** were we supposed to know VW had a bulb change in 1995 or something?
the pic of your repeaters side by side.you can get the right hand side ones in chrome. personally i'd check out a vw festival this year and take yours along to a stall and get the exact matching one you want.

That site Brummy's put up sell them, good site didnt know it existed or id have bought their smoked ones damn!
Today i got an email back from the company that sold me mine on ebay and they are gonna try and get some bulb holders for me as they did tell me personally they would fit my car! So maybe things are looking up.
