...does anyone know what the correct pronounciation of the SEAT LEON is?

a) Sayat Layon
b) Seeyat Layon
c) Sayat Leeon

SEAT is an acronym for "Sociedad Espanola de Automoviles de Turismo" so pronounce it how you want

I pronounce leon "lay - on"

A Spanish colleague answered this for me. Spanish words that end in consonants are normally accented on the last syllable. The 'e' vowel is pronounced like the 'ai' in rain in English and the 'o' like 'oh'. So we get 'Sai-AT Lai-OHN' which sounds a bit unnatural to native English speakers, but it's how they say it.

By the way he also said 'The Lai-OHN is very popular in Spain, everybody wants one'.

Now, based on my very limited knowledge of the Spanish language....

When I was in Spain years ago on holiday, I was trying to ask for a Snickers ice cream, and the chap just kept looking blankly at me. Eventually I went his side of the counter and pointed to it on the board.

"Aaah!", he said, "Thnickerth".

So using that snippet of intelligence, maybe we should call it a "Thayat Layon".

(Or should that be thnippet of intelligence).

I used to say See-at lee-on. But I'm usually referring to it as the lay-on now. It sounds a little more...special :)
