thats a sweet look friend, i have similar plans for mine. my question is...how much should i be looking to pay for the coilovers? i'm new to the modification game and i could do without paying over the odds.
secondly- improving handling is my main priority; are coilovers more for aethetics rather than performance? would i be better off with an adjustable set-up?
(plz forgive me if any of this sounds stupid but i dont have much of a clue yet!)
Cheers dude.

coilovers are ajustable dude the more you pay the better they will be and have more adjustable setting sutch as damping and rebound settings and stuff

thanks mate, i sort of guessed as much, i'll get on the case with some prices! I'm think i'll go for some 16" Borbet T rims tho, otherwise we are gonna end up with identical cars!

Do all you boys use spacers when upgrading to bigger alloys ?
also do they affect handling at all

just just for bigger alloys.

use them even if standard alloys, standard height, even on 1.4. It "pushes" the wheels out more so they sit flush with the arch, instead of wayyyy in the arch

need some rear spaces fella and then it'll look spot on

thanks buddy is next on my list then!

Yes mate, a spacer is merely a disc which will extend your axle, to that your wheels stick out further.
Search for them on here there is a link around to cheap ones with good quality. It'll look much better

thanks for your info!

ill have to raise the rear end if they alloy comes out though because its tucked in at the mo but i think it will look better anyway!

here's an idea (and will cost some more pennies)

if it's JUST sitting in the arches, get spacers on it, and then get an ever so slight stretch of tyre on there ;)

Check RashCupra's old mk4 (now carlisle petes IIRC). He got some 18s, IIRC, and the tyre just tucked in the arch with a bit of stretch

was thinking about a stretch as i was going to do to my old caddy but as iv just put 4 new tiers on i dont really want to change them as they are not cheep!!! might role the arch lip over

rolling the arch is also not cheap, and usually means having to respray as well, so doubt thats a better option.

Here is how I had it on my old rims :)

and now

I ordered front and rear spacers though, so arches will be filled more

yeah, 20mm hubcentric

well I guess you might be able to fit them.
I had to take my rear 20mm ones off as there was crazy rubbing eventhough I raised it.

So now got 6mm ones for the front (to clear tyre from coilover itself..) and probably 12mm max for the rears.
