Was driving last night, all was fine for ages then i just happen to be slowing down for a set of lights and pressed the brake pedal to find it really hard to press.... my first thought was it could be this brake servo hose mentioned
http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?t=51097

however... the car is also gone into limp mode aswell at the same time, its spurting on idle and doesnt sound very healthy, it still drives though, aslong as i keep it above idle i can drive so i luckily made it home from where i was however everytime i took my foot off the accelerator it was as if the ECU wasnt keeping the engine alive so when i pressed the accelerator again it like lurched forward a bit.

looking for ideas, gonna vag-com it later even although the engine management light hasn't came on.

Yes, brake servo hose - if it's split it has caused a massive air leak. The engine management light will come on. Check the hose - with the engine running you should hear a new hissing noise from the engine bay if it's split - but you can check it visually anyway!

Quick start up with the bonnet open and i found the fault. 1 hose had came away from the intake manifold.

Yes it is the hose that the recall was for. It goes from the intake to the brake servo. I had mine into Seat last week and they changed it even though i had a quick check and it all seemed ok. It was free so im not bothered :D
