Hi guys, could you a answer a question for me?
When I accelerate in 3rd 4th 5th and 6th, and the revs get to 3k it seems as if the clutch slips and the revs go up to 4k and then back to 3.5k with no loss of power. It only jumps around 500 revs and drops again. It doesn't rev all the way up
I've done the test of trying to pull away in 4th and 5th but it just stalls.
Is this common on these cars, it's done 65k miles and is an 05 plate, not mapped to my knowledge.
Thanks in advance for your comments.
Regards kirk.

Starting the car, putting it in 3rd gear and try to pull away. If the car stalls = sign of good clutch. If it moves = clutch slipping

If you can get a vcds that would be useful. If you do what Lee says and its fine it could be clutch switch.

How would VCDS show a slipping clutch? There is not one sensor on the clutch VCDS can scan, apart from the speed sensor obviously.

Clutch sounds ok then

seems strange as myns doing pretty much this, 5/6th on motorway . foot down & revs shoot up but the car doesn't move any quicker, later on I went from 1st to 5th and the car just started juddering, again today I booted it in 3rd / 4th and not slipping at all

Thanks Lee.
I hope it's ok. It's just funny how it jumps by 500 revs, it also has a squeal at the same time:cry:

Mine only jumps by 500 revs or so. I'm thinking the traction control can't keep up.?

It will show a fault in the clutch switch

Would throw code 17947 - clutch pedal switch (f36)

I've had the code and was positive the clutch was slipping.

Hi guys ,my lcr was doing this for a few months there exactlly as you described only jumping 500 revs then would (bite).

I assumed clutch was slipping also so after £400 new clutch plus £150 for fitting the kit inc new Sachs oem dual mass fly and Sachs carbon kevlar clutch my mechanic said the fly and friction plate were both fine :

it was a prong / fork on pressure plate that had been bent and was causing it to slip !
