Guess it is time to Start my Build thread of my Cupra.

Where to start before hand I had a Fiat BravA that’s right the old granny wagon which undertook a makeover lol

Pretty my did everything my self except spraying the kit and retriming the seats.

Here is what that looked like.

Started life

Ended its life

Anyway no more of that car. I sold it for a massive loss and everytime I saw it drive by it broke my heart, but then god looked down on me and killed it so I don’t have to see it anymore.

i then had an offer to get a company car so I decided there was only one option, Fabia VRS.. went to look at one but decided I want the Ibiza Cupra instead. 8 weeks later I get this

After I ran it in I had a double trip to P-Torque. The first map was Great but a little to smokie for me it was a company car after all. So I took it back for a little fettling. Here is the result we achieved. Top end BHP is lower than I was expecting but that because we had to cut back the fuel higher up the rev range.

Then start 3 years of a terrible life for the Seat  she has been keyed at the hospital kerbed all around, 2 carpark dings and then to top it off a little kid on the street wanted to clean the cars so I let him and to remove bugs he used a scouring pad lol.

Back in January 09 I sent the car back to the company as the rental was nearly over and I decided to go buy my own car due to Seat telling me I wont be able to buy the Cupra. Once again this was wrong they phoned me up and offered it to me so now I own it 

I have lots planned for it but first things first I need to get the niggly bits sorted.

List of bits I have but not fitted.

Whiteline Rear ARB
Forge Front Strut Brace
Forge Rear Strut Brace
Piper Cross Panel Filter
20mm Spacers
AP Coilovers
Headunit

List of bits happening in a few weeks

Discs and Pads all around
Scratches removed
Alloys refurbed

Wanted

Hybrid
Intercooler pipe work
Boost Gauge
Cruise control (with 9 points I best get this sorted sooner rather than later lol)
A few special touching like fibreglassing a ipod doc in to the cupholder ect
And to STOP the ANNOYING rattles

Ill let you know how it goes coilovers and arb are fitting next week 

Update 12/05/2009

ok today has been one of them days. decided the first thing we would do this morning was tap the pins out the brakes and then refit the fronts wont take more than an hour....... 1 hour in and were still smashing the **** out of the first calliper lol

eventually got them out and refitted the DS2500 and CRN 6 groove discs to the front and then CRn 6 groove discs to the rear with EBC pads.

whilst we had the rear in the air i decided to lower the rear to its lowest setting to see if we can level it out as it was riding like a hot rod. and then it was time to fit the new rear window wiper motor and the rear strut brace.

here are the pictures :)

What the hell were you thinking with that Fiat, what a screeve that was. Glad you've seen sense and got a decent car and not ruined it with silly mods.

that fiat was a great car. trust me the pictures dont do that car justice. but this isnt about my Fiat this is about my Seat :)

next on my list is to remove and clean the Inlet manifold and then fit a egr remove pipe and boost gauge (still need to find a boost guage)

find some sort of fault code reader more likely scangauge.

then i need to save. looking for my car to have some bits sprayed and the scratched taken out. then sort the wheels as these are a little curbbed :(

brakes erm... they are a little squeeky.... i havent really driven on them to be honest. on a cold disc and pad no noise but after a little city driving they start to squeek. if i apply a little more pressure to the pedal they stop making noise. i guess i shouldnt be feathering the pedal for 150m before the lights. ill give it another 60 miles and then ill take it for a thrashing. get some proper heat in to them :)

i know plan on getting it done at some point or some BBS CH like Rash's old car in 18's and black with red lip. some on ebay for £630. but i am now in two minds what to do with the car.

i am definatly keeping it for another year if not 2. so i dont really wanna go spending a lot on it if im only going to chop it in. so i might get paintwork sorted and then refurb the alloys and leave it. i keep toying of the idea like yours darker colour but adding Cupra to one of the spokes in Red or Darker Grey for a little detail. but that all has to wait.

Question time.

Noticed that with the suspension on the rear to the lowest if i go over a bump i get a little squeek. the car is an 06 plate and done 70k now and no bushes other than the ARB's has even been replaced. is there any on the rear that can wear and can cause a squeek to occur?

Lee

I get no noise from my brakes what so ever, apart from the brrrrrr from the grooves on the discs.

RE the squeek from the rear. Look at where the rear beam/axel pivot points. The bushes get dry and squeek. I Sprayed some spray grease into them and it helped.

CH's are awsome wheels mate, I'd love some :D

i do like them even in this colour. still not to sure though like i said. time will tell.

ill get some WD40 sprayed in there tomorrow to see if that stops the squeek on suspension and then give the brakes a good going over :). i will get there eventually :)

Looking good mate :)

How much were the AP Coilover's if you don't mind me asking?

Needs a detail ;)

well they were £365 plus half price fitting. Fitting should of been £220 but i got it for £110.

the problem i had was AP sent the wrong kit for my car i.e a mk3 ibiza kit instead of a mk4.... AMD gave me a set of Spax RSX coilovers for same price.

AMD are great i really recommend them to any one.

Lee

p.s do you still sell the Bonnet Bra's?

Ah, I see... what did AMD say about the difference between the two coilovers?

Sorry, don't do the bonnet bra's, the trimmer passed away in a bike accident.

Car is developing nicely.

I am after coilover kit. May I ask your opinion on the Spax RSX kit?

Advantage with teh Spax kit is the Dampner adjustable. admittedit i drove home on rear dampner setting 22 out of 28 lol which was fun as i bounced home for 150 miles but i have now reduced teh dampner to 13

im really impressed with it to be fair. as the picture is now is the lowest the rears will go but the fronts are only half wound down. which is scary :S

still not to sure if you need shorter drop links yet as i have mentioned i got a knocking noise but lots f people say they have it with the ibiza.

build quality is great and the dampners are easy to adjust. (except the front drivers side where the PD box is covering it up)

pros and cons really. im more than happy but i never been out in another car with coilovers to compare. where abouts are you? i could always meet up :)
