smoke and oil question

I went out for a spirited drive 2day and when i came back i opened up the bonet and then opened up the oil cap and smoke or summit came out. Also noticed oil around the cap at the top of engine cover. Can anyone please explain this???

If you've added oil or had a change recently then that could be the problem. Mainly its down to either having too much oil or the new oil 'burning' in.
If not it might be worth seeking advice from a professional who may be able to give you advice/diagnosis.

If the cap wasn't on tight it could account for the oil on top of the engine cover or, as D3DNA says, if you've had the oil changed recently it could be a bit of over spill.
