finished smoothing mine but was wondering if i should remove the plastic scoop or keep it no as it might have something to do with straightening the air flow over the maf.

what has everybody else done

i used air tools that i had in work then finished it of by hand only took about 20mins. would off took me days doing it with sandpaper.

I think you can remove the trumpet part that you refer to.....

get some mole grips, grab hold of each slat in the centre and twist off, worked for me, then just sand using a dremel

You've probably stopped me cutting my fingers off with a stanley knife!
