So...Clutch Slip

Out of curiosity, how many miles has yours done? No idea how long DMF's last for mind, but fingers crossed it'll be fine for you bud.

Because whenever i put my foot down in 1st/2nd and even 3rd sometimes the car doesnt pull well, and i dont know how to explain it but its a more "jaggerd" movement.. then i have to ease of the gas till about 2500ish revs so it pulls nicely.. is that clutch slip or something else?

For me, when I put my foot down in 4th/5th between about 2K-3K, for a split second the revs build up but the speed drops slightly. After the split second, the revs drop back down and it accelerates normal.

Basically ordered clutch, and it's now in garage waiting to get stuff in car. Not getting flywheel done at teh same time, however i'll get them to have a look. If it needs doing. It will have to get done.

I'm Hoping that there maybe some other benefit from stuffing this bloody clutch in, apart from it actually working. Please say i may get more power

Went to see my mates at the garage after it had teh brakes done and they raised a very good point.

If that standard clutch is rated to 300lbs/ft of torque then why not bung a new one in? As i can get one fitted for £350 This is half teh bloody price of the uprated one! Surley a standard new one would be ok, for at least 20,000 miles i'd have thought...??

I then also had another though... Why not get a clutch from a cupra Tdi? Yes there only 160bhp, but they are bound to be better than a standard one, yet still alot cheaper than a sachs one.

Opinions guys!

Its the same clutch in the 130/160, I'm running 200bhp/300lbft on standard clutch, no problems if you dont drive like a twat.

It spat it's dummy out for a reason.

Just remember that quite a big part of the cost is labour, so if it doesn't hold up, you'll be paying the labour again and probably uprating it anyway.

I did the same and decided a standard clutch would be sufficient, and it was for a while, then that all changed, and I regretted doing it on the cheap.

Personally I'd get the job done right the first time.

Seriously unsure what to do now. On one hand yeh if i fit a Sachs clutch great stuff, wont go wrong eveything will work fine, however i'll be around £800 lighter.

If i go for standard I spend £350 (ish) fitted yeh it may last fine for 10/20k but after that who knows? Guess i could just fit another standard one then and it would still be cheaper than a Sachs one...

I guess with your experience though Bond your in a Cupra, with i'd guess around 200bhp!!

No matey, have only just got the Cupra, that all happened in my 130 TDI Sport.
