I mean you shouldn't have to do it.

Jeesh you're hard work

sorry if I sound snappy I'm on the phone so keeping it short and sweet, agree though shouldn't have to but it seems the garage goes on about having no permission to continue the warranty work so I have to go above them to get what I consider an acceptable repair , I know I can only push so far but I don't consider it unreasonable for them to see if any damage had occurred.

you wouldnt stitch up a gun shot victim without removing the bullet!

just to keep this updated for anyone else, they are sticking a camera in tomorrow to see if any damage has been done, I have asked for a copy if the photos and I have a healthy piston to compare it to so I'll whack some pics up I guess if all is fine I'll get the car back, but we shall see.

The dealers will probably just do a compression test and if that's OK bosh a new set of plugs in and send you on your way with their fingers crossed.

seems they have done a compression test and changed the plugs and that is good enough! wtf definitely on to seat uk tomorrow. trying to tell me the bits of spark plug vaporised!

I told you so :D

Pics fron inside the pistons should put your mind at ease but as said the metal part probably took a trip through your turbo and is sitting in your CAT, I doubt it will pass through the CAT as the cells are quite small in there.

I'm getting ever more worried now about my "black beauty" now :( I'm checking my oil every other day and I'm even starting to think shall I put my foot to the floor here or will my engine fail ... Iv had no major issues yet but they cud jst be right around the corner ! I really hope the engine check comes out ok :)

When the same thing happened to mine last year Seat replaced my whole engine to make sure there were no bits left inside. They told me that it was just a dodgy batch of plugs but if that was the case then there seems to be quite a few batches of dodgy plugs!
Tbh since I've had the latest Revo update I've only had a couple of warning lights havent been kicked into safety (sluggish) mode

got car back now seat said no damage, took it to work and checked it myself and seems nothing in the engine and no scoring so ill just see what happens over the next few weeks.

Oh and was a good week as i spent 7 hours getting recovered by the AA when a test vehicle i was using dumped all its coolant in traffic on the evening of my birthday. Fun times!

Think I've seen enough of these threads now regarding Cupra's and Boc's failing, definitely won't be buying one now when it comes time to change. Leon Cupra for me or back to RWD and back to BMW :drive1:

Hey, what about a nice turbo tractor like my car????? lol Absolutely no engine problems with this engine! lol :p

Its a shame as i think in theory its a good idea, but its just too sparadic across the engines for some to be ok and be ok for miles and miles, and then you get one thats a few weeks/days old and thats it, you lose the car for 2-3 weeks as it needs a new engine.....

in fairness this wasn't a problem with the engine at all it was the shoddy ngk spark plugs, accross other forums ive seen a few threads on ngks popping up being bad build quality
maybe they are loosing their edge!

Yeah I'd definitely consider going back to TDi again. My old Mk4 PD130 (tuned to 180bhp and 300lbs of torque) was serious fun! I nearly had a straight swap for an Mk4 ibiza FR TDi when getting rid of the civic, shame it fell though :( I don't know much about the 1.6TDi engine though, how tunable is it? Think I'd prefer to go down the Leon FR route with DPF delete and remap etc.

I had a diesel mk1 leon and loved it but the new pd engines i cannot stand they are tuned sooo badly, I have not tried a remapped one but I work with Jag Diesels all day and they are just on another level of greatness. I like linear power accross the rev range and that was the biggest selling point of the boca for me.

Only diesels i would consider are bmw, lexus or jags tbh

Can you confirm the cylinder which the plug snapped off into? Also was it the plugs that revo recommend: ngk BKR7EIX OR the ones seat now recommend(dont know what they are)

Not totally qualified to comment about tuning the 1.6TDI unit as my car has a 2.0TDI engine! lol ;)

There does seem to be a problem with remapping the 1.6 diesel engine due to problems breaking the ECU encryption. You can get a tuning box but I seem to remember you don't like those... The box claims to give the 1.6TDi around 130BHP, so the same power as a standard MK4 FR TDI... The 2.0TDI in my FR is able to be remapped and it seems relatively easy to get another 40BHP without trying too hard... Some folk have gone a good bit higher with the power... I'm sure I saw someone out there with 197BHP though can't remember if it was posted on this forum or not... DUH! LOL Think that car had the DPF delete done on it too...

The Leon FR is a nice car too, mind you. :)
