i posted this in another thread... but not sure if it was really read... so started another thread... basically about what my car should boost to:

ive been wondering about a similar point recently... ive got revo stg 1, miltek cat back, jetex panel filter and 007... and ive replaced all the vacuum hoses

when i floor it i get boost as follows in each gear:
1st gear: 10-12psi
2nd gear: 13-14psi
3rd gear: 14-16 psi
4th gear:15-19psi
5th gear: 16-19psi... but a few times it has gone right round to 20-21psi... but only ever in 5th

this lead me to think that its not a leak... as it would never go to 20-21psi, but i checked anyway and found nothing

could this be the n75?? ive never changed it... so assume its a standard one (not sure what that is... j etc...)... could i need a new one??

any thoughts???

Ive got the same sort of problem mate, Apart from when i boot it in 2nd ill get around 16psi then from there on ill hit anywhere between 18psi to 21psi, When you boot it in 2nd are you doing it from low speeds? 20mph? as i found if i hold the revs say at 4k rpm then plant it i will only see about 15/16psi but i thought this could be normal because the boost has built up therefore wont go on to 20psi if that makes sense? same as you everytime i plant it in 5th i see full boost around 21psi. Im not seeing 20/21psi in 1st gear either only to about 15/16psi, but then sometimes i will see full boost! Im hoping either this is normal or somebody can help us out with what it could be as i have a RR day at teh end of the month!

going to check for boost leaks today, Reset the ecu and do a TB alignment just to see if that works!.

David.

This is strange and i think i've tempted fate with another post i responded to but mine is doing exactly the same now. Noticed it a couple of days ago, boosts to 15 ish psi and will get higher through the gears???

I scanned it with vagcom and found some sort of ecl intermittent open circuit? (forgive my lack of precise code as i cleared it)

The fault didnt return........scanned it two minutes later and got:

18048 P1640 Internal Contr.Module (EEPROM) Error ???

I cleared this and it came back 3 times..........left it 30mins, cleared it again and its not come back but im still boosting lower than usual? I've checked everywhere for a leak, all vac hoses are mint and all hose clips are tight?

would this point to a possible N75 problem?

From what ive searched and read........the eeprom code could possibly point to a dodgy ecu but as the fault hasnt returned again im a bit confused??

Sorry to hijack the thread a bit......

have you done a n249 bypass?

its just when i done the bypass i had that error come up (aswell as a boost leak error) - so i put everything back as it was and hasnt come back since -

according to a reliable website - http://wiki.ross-tech.com/index.php/18048/P1640/005696

18048/P1640/005696 - Internal Control Module: EEPROM Error
Possible Causes
Engine Control Module modified (e.g. Chip Tuning)
Engine Control Module faulty
Possible Solutions
Contact your Tuner ;)
Replace Engine Control Module

When you say the ecu being chipped tuned does this mean that there could be a problem with the ecu? or is it just throwing up the fault code saying theres a remap on the ecu?

David.

So basicly if its throwing up that code, Either your ecu has been modified like us :D or the ecu is knackerd! not so good :(.

dont know to much about it - but i would have thought if the car has been mapped, i shouldnt think the ecu would throw up a error for it - but then im no techy -

i sh!t myself when i saw this error on my car as ive got a chip as appose to a remap on to the standard ECU -

hopefully someone else maybe else to shed more light

No i havent scanned mine yet, ive put a post up in the vag com section for anybody in my area. as soon as ive had it scanned i shall report back, ive just diconnected the battery and im going to align the throttle body after to see if that helps. I cant see it either throwing up a fault code for a remap. surly revo or whoever would have told you when they installed it or would have found a fix for it before the software was released.
