Ive had a S3 before and the coil packs went on that twice, car seems okay until i floor it then it stutters and lack of power then comes back and so forth, feels the same symptoms as the S3. Just wondering how much they cost and how difficult they are to fix? Light came on Dash for a bit, flickering then went off

Around £30 for a genuine one, less for copies. Easy to fix if it's numbers 1 or 2... but 3 and 4 are slightly covered so a bit trickier. Not a big job either way though.

You'll probably find it's the same process and the same part numbers as on your S3.

Same part number for all of them.

Do you have access to VAG-COM? If not, stick a post up in the VAG-COM 'help requests' forum section and see if anybody local to you has it. With that, you can read the error codes which should let you know which one is failing. It will read that is has a misfire on a certain cylinder, which will be the one with the faulty coil pack.

Ive got the freeware version, will that do?

Yup, should allow you to read error codes at least. All you really need to know is which coil pack(s) are faulty. Then you can get out and buy some replacements :)

Got a long extension lead...? ;)

If in doubt, get a post up in the help requests section and hopefully somebody near you will get in touch. Of course, the other option is to head to your local Seat dealer and let them do it. Hopefully they will have the part in stock too.

2 Faults Found:
16684 - Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected
P0300 - 35-00 - -
16686 - Shareware Version. To Decode all DTCs
P0302 - 35-00 - Please Register/Activate

is the error it shows up

The second error, when using the full version of the software, is:

16686 P0302 Cyl.2 Misfire Detected

So that answers that question at least. Cylinder 2 has a faulty coil pack. However, as you also have a multiple error, it's likely that others are failing too. It's not unusual for one coil pack to die and the others follow suit soon after.

If you don't want to buy more than you need, I'd suggest changing number 2 and take it from there. Change it, clear the error codes and see how you get on. If the first error returns, hopefully it will be followed by a specific error for a specific cylinder.

by the way if you do get coil packs, get the push in ones and not the bolt down ones, makes things alot easier to change

Excellent. Is it driving better now? If you can and haven't already done so, get VAG-COM back on it and clear the fault codes. Then you can check it again in a week or so just to make sure the faults have gone for good :)
