I took out my spare tyre the other day when i was giving my car a thorough clean.
Damn thats a heavy lump of rubber and alloy to be driving around with.

has anyone removed there's full time and just risked driving with one of those puncture repair kits that inflate the tyre for you if you get a puncture, i am pondering doing this.

Cheers

no, but while your looking at heavy objects, take the double seat back out and feel the weight of that!! I've been driving mine stripped out for the last week just for amusement value! noticeably quicker; but that might just be my imagination!!

There is no issues with not having a spare tyre. The MK2 Leon Cupra's don't have one but instead have a tyre weld kit and tyre inflator.
This falls down if you have a blow out of ripped tyre.

Also remember the engine has to turn these lumps before allowing the car to accelerate, lighter wheels mean better acceleration and braking

personally think the weight is keeping the back end of mine from being even more wayward! that coupled with the extra weight of my new brakes in the boot is a somewhat unorthodox handling mod!

Right, its coming out today, the tyre that is.I only do short haul journeys anyway, for the longer journey's which are few and far between i will put the tyre back in.

Also the spare has slight damage to the alloy, so i am gonna repair it DIY style, it will be my pratice run before i go at the alloys on the car.

thanks
