Hi everyone! :)

Today I was replacing spark plugs in my Leo everything was fine till I found out the spark plugs what I bought were totaly different. I thought that I bought wrong ones but I checked everywhere but turned out to be correct according to that what internet says.
New one is NGK ..FER7A8EG with thread 26,5mm
Spark plugs what I took out from engine is NGK PFR6Q with thread 19mm

So when I checked that I was totally confused o_O

Is any one had that situation before ? Or know exactly serial number of spark plugs for this engine ?

Patient is Seat Leon 1.8 TSI 2014

Thanks! :D

You defo want to make sure you are correct here or it could be bad news and you could kill your engine.

I suspect the plugs you removed are the correct ones and you should source these again

Yeh that what I thought than I need to buy new correct ones.
But that makes me wonder if it possible to put shorter spark plugs ?

The short plugs you removed will more than likely be the correct ones for your engine.

If you put the longer plugs in then theres a chance you could end your engine, valves / pistons into the spark plugs. Could be curtains.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't longer plugs used in Gen3 1.8 TSI's? Shorter plugs were used in Gen1 engines.. do you know if that's the original engine? Pasting an engine code would help..

That's right. However the OP's issue is that he bought the correct spark plugs that should fit his 2014 Leon's engine, but for some reason the old spark plugs are shorter (thread length 19mm), which might possibly mean that his 1.8 engine is not Gen 3, while originally it should be.

Ah ok i understand , would be helpfull if the op could put a picture of his engine up.

Engien numer is CJS 067607 (Read from V5 and nameplate on drivers post) with that mean should be a correct one for this model. So confused this is o_O

Where I can find engien numbers on engine ?

Also it's make me wonder if someone put wrong shorter spark plugs by a mistake and that still would work as normal ?

EDIT:

Before I bought my car it was serviced in ASO Seat and they changed spark plugs last time.

Strange defo ea888 1.8. Contact aso seat and ask them for parts invoice. So you can check what spark plugs they used. Go from there. I suppose it would work with the shorter plugs, even though they are incorrect.

Can you also check for the engine code on the engine itself? I think it should be somewhere on the block, under the decorative engine cover. If it's the same as you previously wrote, you should contact ASO Seat and ask about the plugs. CJS* definitely uses the longer plugs.

Hi,

I've checked the number on a engine and they are same as on V5.

I bought same spark plugs what were in engine. Changed them today and they works fine.

Still makes me wonder what is going on with them different spark plugs o_O

I still strongly suggest calling the dealer just to be sure. Based on the info I've found, CJS should have plugs with the longer thread..

Just bought a set of plugs for my gen 3 1.8tsi (2017). It is longer threads and vw part number should be 06K905601B (NGK) or 06K905611C (Bosch)
