Hi. I've noticed this a couple of times now and it's a bit disconcerning. When I'm in 5th gear at around 25mph if I take my foot off the accelerator the car speeds up. I dont have any assistance systems activated and have no speed limiter set up. Has anyone else experienced this?

Why on earth would you be costing in 5th @25mph! Perhaps the gear is so high idle speed causes it to accelerate!

ETA: Weren't you taught to change down the 'box as you decelerate to match gear to speed when you learnt to drive?

You're in too high a gear at too low a speed, that's why.

wow i didn't even know you could be in 5th gear at 25mph ... i don't even drive 25mph in 4th .... it'll be the clutch and gearbox pulling you along you need to change up

Yes and was changing down. Been following the gear indicator. Only noticed this week after switching to super unleaded.

Then you’ve forgotten what you were taught if you’re following some shift arrow on the dash. You should be in third (or if you’re a Police driver second) at 25mph.
