Hi all,

Quick question, After recently (within the last 3 months) having a stage 1 custom code remap and Piper downpipe/sports cat/cat back I was very pleased with the results.

However, a few days ago the engine management light came on. Not noticing any issues at all with the drive of my car I got round to taking it to garage for diagnostics - basically the light is on as a result of emissions/Cat converter problem.

They have cleared the fault for the moment but have warned that it will return and it wont pass the MOT (due January)!!!????:(

Luckily i do have the original exhaust/cat saved for an eventuality such as this;) but thought by buying a sports cat that this would not have happened

Who's to blame? Piper, Custom code or niether? any advice/thoughts would be most welcome

just see if the code comes back, take the car to another garage and ask them to do an ommissions test mate, to see what youre at.

if all else fails run it on vagcom
could be a lambda problem

never heard of a sports cat creating problems for mot

The light is on because the 2nd lambda sensor is detecting the more free flowing cat and thinks it's a fault. I have this since fitting a full system. The car drives fine. You can either get the sensor mapped out using a stage 2 CC upgrade. Or you can buy a spacer that moves the lambda sensor a little out of the exhaust gasses. Even if the light was on, I doubt it would fail an MOT as long as the emissions are ok.

You can get a spacer by contacting Wayne from the link. He is in the US and it's about $43.55 shipped.
