Squeaky Turning

Hey all, my beezer seems to have developed the habit of making a squeaking/grinding noises when turning on full lock
It's a 99 8v 2.0ltr cupra and about 68000 on the clock. Any ideas? Thanks in advance....

Power steering belt probably, but without hearing the noise I'm not going to know for definate.

I bought a belt about a year ago with the intention of doing it. Still have the belt... And the squeak!

Was it hard to do, Mark?

Mine has more of a scream than a squeak,but i just avoid putting it really full on if i can....is it gonna cause any damage doing that???

I didn't actually do it mate, my missus' dad did it for me.
Took him about half hour to do it, he said it was easy to do.

My belt was totally shagged, had been squealing for ages. Was going round a roundabout on friday, turned to come off and my power steering just stopped working and nearly ended up in the central reservation.
I assume it was because the belt was knackered, I hope so anyway, been fine since It was changed.

nice one all!! After some investigation the power steering belt does seem to be the issue. I'll have a go at fitting one this weekend.
