Ssss noise when accelerating

Hi guys, ive noticed recently sometimes when i push the accelerator down i get like a ssss noise for 2 seconds when i press it

anything to worry about?

It's just induction noise as the throttle opens - the 1.2's are particularly noticeable

My Ibiza FR makes a quite loud noise when boosting but it only happens when the engine is fully warmed up. It never made this noise before and i am starting to wonder if it is an air leak somewhere althogh there is no difference in power. Has anyone else had a similar problem ?

Your turbo will make some woosh/hiss noises and the noises will be different depending if the engine is cold or hot. Don't worry.

Bear in mind also that the 1.2 is chain driven- meaning it will make that hissing sound at low revs, the one so common with 1.2 Corsa's

but hey, at lest there are no belts to replace!

It never made the noise before. I had it remapped and it has been running fine for a couple of months and has only just started to make the noise. It is very noticeable even with the windows up

Only the chain if it snaps - a common problem on the 1.2 mk4

Maybe you have the early signs of the boost pipe popping off. do a search for boost pipe and all will be clear.

I wouldn't worry, i have an open cone air filter on my FR, and with the windows up and the radio off when accelerating it sounds like darth vader is breathing behind the dash board through the vents. Its pretty loud and makes all sorts of weird and wonderful noises.

Yeah they do sound awesome. Im looking to get a new full exhaust system so it should sound even better soon

It turns out it was a crack in the exhaust manifold. Only making noise when it heated up and expanded
