If I am thinking correctly stage 1 is Filter/007/Remap and stage 2 means splashing out on exhaust and or Intercooler, so for the people who have had it done has it been worth the extra money?

It was like getting chipped all over again. I choose apr stage 2 which is awesome. Do you have stage 1 at the moment.

When you stage two do you need to change the clutch?

No but it will put extra strain on it. Stage2 increases the torque, if you have a custom map the mapper can prevent this from happening. Generally if the peak boost is limited to 1.5 bar clutch issues shouldn't be a problem.

tbh i think its better geting every thing for stage 2 then getting it maped i dont see the point in just getting it mapped because your all ways going yo want more power .. least with stage 2 you no if you want more power you have to get a bigger turbo so you can weigh your situations up ... fmic helps with top end pulls alot hatder

i have a custom code stage 2, and my drive back was very eventfull, i was chuffed with mine, so much torque, pulls really well in 6th... mine is holding boost at 1.2bar

Yeah that's fine if you are willing to pay quite a lot for an extra 10bhp. It'll probably cost a grand for full exhaust and FMIC, which is about £100 for 1bhp, where as stage one is cheap in comparison at less than £10 for 1bhp. If you've got your handling sorted out and have spare cash then why not though...

iv got stage 2,and my mate has a stage 1 LCR. to be honest we were side by side really, very little difference between our cars which was surprising...im pulling ahead VERY slightly...

stage 1 is JUST the remap alone.
stage 2 is including induction kit, dumpvalve, silicon TIP (as original TIP is prone to collapsing with more boost strain), as well preferably a full exhaust system including downpipe.you do not strictly need a front mount intercooler, it does help though.

with a stage 2 you hear the turbo better, pulls better in 4th gear, and you know you have the max power your car can take on a standard turbo.

im going for stage 3 next, with a hybrid turbo and front mount and hopefully hit 320 bhp

I have heard this though, some Stage 1's are quite extreme. Me & D.K are Stage 1 on AMD maps and the torque is huge.

I would expect a little more than just edging forward on Stage 2 vs Stage 1, even though real world differences aren't that big, there should be a little more difference surely?

You need alot more power to make a big difference, stage 2 the best you can hope for is 280hp if you are lucky, stage 1 around 260-265hp, so 15hp aint going to make a massive difference.
I found with front mount, the power stays stronger and pulls harder much further up the rev range.

Even with my monster your only pulling away substantially if the difference is more than 30bhp.
Stage 2 is more about refining what you have rather than numbers. longer power band etc.

We get spoilt by our turbos. stage 1 map is the best value for money power mod there is.

Ive been looking into 3.5lt rover V8 engines, many of those guys spend alot more than remap money just getting a measly 15bhp out of there engines!:D

all i was saying is if you want the most amount of power from your car i would save up for a stage i dont see the point in paying £500 quid for stage 1 map then another £500 for stage 2 map

Stage 2 is worth it because you get more power over the rev range. People keep getting hooked on peak figures and its not about that at all.

I thought most places charged less money for having a remap for extra mods?

They do, like revo charge £499 etc for stage 1, then for stage 2 is like an extra £100. I think what dan is on about is if you go somewhere and get revo for £499, then when you go stage 2, you decide you want jabba, you have to pay another £475 or whatever jabba charge for a custom stage 2 map
