Right folks Im after abit of assistance. I have had a search and cant find anything on the forum unless I have missed it.

As the title suggests Im feel like I have abit of a steering issue, the best way to describe it is this:

Sometimes I turn the wheel and the steering feels rather heavy, once I put the wheel back so the wheels are straight then turn the wheel again it goes light and like how I feel it should be.

Ive checked the fluid level and it is fine, the pump seems to be working ok as it isnt squealing or anything and it isnt leaking, everything seems to be lined up like it should and the belt looks like it is ok.

Any suggestions?

Steering (whether powered or not) will be sensitive to road speed and surface. Next time it seems to vary, check what you're driving on and how fast you were going.

Ive experienced this in my old Mk2 GTi which i thought was due to the pump on its was out, happened near enough on same corner en route to work but depending how i took turn.
I experienced it a odd time in new mk2 and only after changing Auxillary belt (powersteering one) when doin my timing belt that i havent noticed it again, which i suspect was due to the old belt being old, stretched and cracked causing not enough tension on the pulleys.

So check condition of your belt and the tension of it :)
