i'm looking to fit a new steering wheel but i was just wondering if i could use a wheel from the same platform? Plug and play (airbag) ideally i want a Mk1 tt wheel

You'd probably need to check on the amount of pins if there's a plug, I can't suspect there'd be many differences between the 2,

I'd say get down Silverlake and start pulling them apart lol

Just had my standard wheel retrimmed will post pics tomorrow when it arrives :) might be an easier option, been made fatter and better to hold.. Alcantara

Look forward to the pics, first car I've ever had where I've liked the standard wheel size so won't be going aftermarket but would love to see one with alcantara.

Well just hang in there chaps wheel should arrive this afternoon via parcelforce, soon as I get it ill post pics, Jack at Royal Steering Wheels uses the highest quality materials porsche grade alcantara and is a master at getting the exact shape wheel you want, I've had many friends have there wheels done by Jack, they are superb, I paid £150 for mine, but it required alot of work to shape it, if you used an r32 wheel and sent that off it may be cheaper, but r32 wheels come at a premium, took just over a week to be done, I just sent my wheel off but jack also runs an exchange service he sends you a wheel, you take yours off send him yours, this enables you to still drive your car if need be...

Hang in there for pics!!! :)

Right lads it's here, just placed my airbag unit in to give you the idea of what it'll look like.

Been made thicker with added thumb and lower palm mouldings, black alcantara with grey stitching to match my cupra seat inserts, black leather centre marker for discreet race look.

You can tell expensive alcantara as it's really fine, the cheaper stuff is much courser and will bobble and flake, the workmanship is just outstanding!!!

Well happy!!!

I've run non airbag wheels before, as you grow up you realise it's not worth disabling the air bag system with the love of your life put at risk or injury, or yourself can't change what the airbag looks like.

I had an omp WRC up till I had this wheel done, just made the interior look cheap this looks way better

And I tried and tried to get the correct resistor to clear the airbag check light but to no avail, when the airbag light is up the whole system is inactive, not good when your carrying other people or children in the car, not good at all, you don't mess with other people's safety.
