Just fitted a New Pioneer DEH-X3500UI. Bit fiddly to get it to seat properly but got there in the end. Then I decided to try it out. Radio worked fine, put a cd in all fine, Aux to my phone worked fine. So I thought i'd see if changing the stereo helped with the quality of the sound.
Listened to a few different tracks, It was sounding well. So I thought i'd see how it handled the bass. Put Bass Cannon on lol, turned the bass up. The screen on the hu flickered. Turned it down a little bit 'cos the door cards were rattling. Then the screen flickered again, went off and the sound stopped.
Took the stereo out, checked the connections which were all fine. Then decided to check for power. Got power at the right wires, so that's not the problem. So I thought i'd check the old stereo see if that worked. Plugged it in and it just says safe. Left it for nearly 2 hours now and it won't come off safe.
Went to park the car out the way and the engine management light is on. Code is P0600.
Serial Comm. Link (Data Bus) Message Missing. Please tell me this is something simple and It hasn't fried my ecu. Surely the stereo and speakers aren't wired in via the ecu?
And any ideas on what could be wrong with the stereo?
