My cars a Golf, but its engine is an AUM, which is bascially identical to an AUQ in the LC. I must be lucky as I get no hesitation whatsoever from mine.
I always run super unleaded and have 1 temp range cooler plugs than std.

Mine has a Revo stage 1 map.

Mr OCD, Revo offer a 1 month money back guarantee, so it may be worth getting the Revo map and seeing how it goes - if its all good then thats ok, if not, you can get it removed and get your money back. If you had the same map as mine and it was set correctly to suit which ever fuel you use, that should take away the doubt about map problems as mine does not hesitate at all.

id agree with the revo trial but only from an independent known vag garage... if hes expecting problems and they happen.... better to be in a place that knows the map and car backwards so they can put it right.

is that ko3 or ko3s? as the map will differ

K03s and fly by wire throttle. This spec was fitted to later Mk4s, but with a 150bhp map instead of 180bhp, but later on they also did the 180bhp version.

Yeah a knowledgable garage has to be the way forward.

Well spent some time on this ... no problems can be found so last night I had the map removed from the car.

It drives A1 now ...

Crap map... :(

Wasn't this mapped by a mate? what has he got to say about the problems?

I guess it could also just be a fault that shows up when running higher boost levels........boost leak etc....time will tell I guess.

Off topic but Mr OCD, are you from the sxoc forum? If so hello to a former S14A owner, if not i'll shut up.

Get a remap from a reputable company and you'll love that bit more....

I'm not convinced by the generic route anymore... so might just save up and go down the custom route instead IF I want more power that is... for now it will make do with a quick clean up ... ;)

good job on that paint work:)

hope your not too put off on the mapping front. its the first map ive heard of causing issues.

as long as your loving it;)

late to the thread but.....

Seems like quite a few people have this hesitation thing between 2500-300rpm, including me! If its so common, has no-one found a fix for it??
I was thinking it had to be a dead spot on the throttle.....assuming its fly by wire??

Stage 1 remaps they are all the same 'custom' and 'generic' just choose a reputable company with good customer services

When I say the same I mean even the 'custom' ones are effectively generic for stage 1

The 'Custom' remappers will happily admit it's not till stage 2/3 etc that they start doing anything 'special' to your car

Just read this entire thread and found it very interesting and informative. Glad it had a happy ending. Somtimes with cars, you just have to stick at it to get it fixed, and it's worth it in the end. If it were me though, I would have to get another map just to prove that it was a bad map, otherwise it could come back to haunt you?
