My girlfriend wouldn't put her belt on [:@] so i drove off, then slammed on the brakes, her head was squashed in against the window!! Seatbelt went on everytome after that!;)

I was in the rear of a cop car (nothing to do me, had to meet them at end of road when had 4tyres slashed along with 4 other cars). The driver had seatbelt clipped in and sat down over top of it!

Police dont have to wear seatbelts

Why? They are'nt at any less risk than rest of us, yes a quick exit of a car maybe needed, but at the price of a life to begin with while driving around! A little lad at 6yr old was killed on Thursday night up the road from me, i came across it just as police had arrived and started a road block, no seat belt in the front of the car!

Police should have to, even to set the example, hypocrisy telling others to do it while they don't (laws and police procedures etc set aside).

its not a risk factor for police its just so they can get out the car quicker i think

i beleive multidrop van and taxi drivers are also exempt

Irfan

I knew multi-drop deliveries are exempt but only for certain distanced between drops and certain number of drops. Still think it idiot that police don't. But sure when has any law ever made much sense at some point!

personally i think drivers persay police/taxi etc are on the road more so are more at risk than any of us and would have more need for a seatbelt but thats an old chesnut i guess

what i'm more surprised at is isnt it overdue for rear seats to be fitted with the system ?

i can look at my mrs in the passenger seat or reach down whilst changing gear and check if the front passenger belt is in place but whilst driving i cant see/check the 5-10 yr old thats just unhooked theirs and about to jump in the front and say BOO!!!

i know there is iso etc for kids seats and stuff but wouldnt it be more worthwhile in the back ?

same as heated seats ;) why only have em in the seats closest to the heater ???

Our other car - (C4 - sshhh!!) has rear sensors which light on the dashboard, no bing, but the light comes on..... our 5yr old nephew undid his the other week and he got such a telling off straight away about it .. :)
