sub advice

If you go for 1 sub you can get a better sound quality and the sounds arent competeing against each other.

All of the cars i have had have been 1 sub and they are louder and cleaner sound than my friends with 2 subs.

Also means the amp doesnt have to work as hard so might not cut out.
 
Yeah the Alpine type-r Subs are amazing and not that expensive for what you get.

Also, Alpine MRP-M350 amp if you can find one is the nuts for the sub. Thats what i had in my last car and it was a great sound.
 
i've got a pioneer 12" in mine, set the amp properly and it sounds the nuts, too high and i agree with ad, it's too boomy and shakes the car about
 
that alpine m350 amp looks simiar in spec to a vibe slick A2 amp, which is 350w rms.

i just say that cos i just found a link to that slick amp is all, after doing some searches on vibe :)

i'm juggling between Vibe and JL....and alpine now lol

there's also the JL A1400 amp which can put 320w rms out
it's going to be used for punchy dance music mostly

I had a 1000w 10 inch Pioneer sub and it was very punchy and responsive. My 760w Pioneer amp melted that sub though lol, the amp was too powerful for it. (continual power not peak power)

Now running a 1000w (500watt RMS/500watt continual power) kenwood amp with a 12 inch pioneer sub with a peak power of 1200 watts (400 continual I think, so again the amp is too powerful for it but I just turn it down.)

Anyhow basically what im saying is that I was worried about the 12 inch being too boomy but this setup works really well in the car and I prefer it to the 10 inch. The responsivness of the sub is great. Reckon its the best budget sub you can get for under £50.

Go into your local audio shop and they will sell that sub for over 150 but on the link above they give a great price.

Once I had it turned up all the way and some bird I had in the back covered her ears cause it was too loud for her. Oops lol. :O

My car hasnt got any sound deadening. Everyone I spoke to at the shops and installation places said it would be a waste of money. they say its really only for the really big boys that require the stuff.

Thats not a bad package and for a really good price for it.
 
Mine is fully sound deadened all round, speaker grills, door cards and custom boot build etc
 
Yeah. Thats the amp i was on about and the sub doesnt look too bad either.
 
Just bought my Ibiza Cupra not put any ice in it yet - I'm putting the ICE that I had in the Punto MK1 into the Cupra:

Sony CDX-GT500
X 4 - Infinity Reference 6500cs 6.5" 90W RMS with / crossovers / tweeters
JBL GT4 Sub
JBL 755.6 Amp (6 Channel)

JBL seem to offer the best quality for the price in the Amp/Sub range - Although if you have the budget you could also go for a more reputable name - You get what you pay for in most respects. Also try looking on ebay / gumtree -you can grab a bargin 2nd hand! All the best building your system! ;)
 
that carsecuritydirect site looks like iot had a great range of sub/amp packages....


will give them a call tomorrow and get some advice...

really need to hear some demos! it's the choice bewteen 10" (single dual)or 12" (single) which im still con ferzuled over.....

i know i want about 300w rms minimum non ported, and happy spending up to maybe £300-£350

i upgraded from jbl and vibe to Jl, Jl dont put big rms numbers on there lists but they go loud enough for the quality of sound you get... a_waugh/danmay heard mine at ed38 so did every1 else when i was asked to turn mine up, mine is mostly Jl (comps and sub) and kenwood (hu and amps) as i couldt afford the Jl amps at the time....

for under £300,
alpine type r sub
alpine MRP M650 amp

for 3-4,
diamond d310 sub
dls ca12 amp

or for just over 300, mix
diamon sub
alpine m650 amp, i thinki it was

any opinions?
 
Sounds about right to me.

The Alpine amp they suggested is the upgrade on the MRP-M350 i was saying yesterday. Since the Type-R sub runs at 500w RMS that amp is probably better.

At least they go along with the theory that 1 sub is best for quality.

Never heard any Diamon stuff working, so i would say stick with Alpine. But im biased as thats all ive had.
