Quick look on a Fiat forum says 0-60 for the SS is 7.4, I'd be very worried if you struggled that much against him, it won't be night and day difference but it should have been obvious which car was the more potent, even if he got the drop on you I'd expect you to reel him in, maybe your car isn't making the figures your signature suggests.
Could possibly be down to the driver though
Standard a lc is 7.7 0-60 I wonder how much time a stage 1 knocks off?
