Right, im thinking about changing my standard fr suspension. But what to?

I want something thats going to handle well but not be bone crushingly harsh. was thinking maybe adjustable coilovers? (damping adjustable that is) but do i really need them?

I dont want to lower the car for looks, would be purely for handling so would i be better off with a spring damper combo?

looking at spending no more that £600ish seen fk konigsports for around that price.

so what would you reccomend?

1. fully adjustable coilovers
2. normal coilovers
3. adjustable damper + springs
4. spring and dampers

and what makes!.............

thanks matt.

i have weitec coiloves on my FR and i find the ride firm but not harsh. they are only height adjustible and DPM have them on special £390iirc

yeah i've seen them but wasnt too sure on the quality of them etc with them being such a good price. can you shed any light on that at all?

a friend reccomended fk's but seen some pretty bad reviews of them on here.

Everone with the FK that i know of has had problems with them. the weitec are made by KW so are very good quailty. the only prob i have with mine is the outer bodies of the shock have corroded after a few year (only cosmetic), they have been on 3 different cars mind you, so i dont know how old they actually are!

I have had them for about 6ish months on my FR and have never had a problem with them yet!

this weekend i am fitting another set to a friends A3 so they get my vote!

p.s if you worrried about the corrosion on the bodies you could just paint/coat them before you fit them

o and i think the difference ibetween the weitec and the KW is the KW have stainless steal bodys where the weitecs are galvanized

Yeah that's right.

The Weitec's are a great choice especially at the moment with us having nearly £100 off them.

so i take it you notice a marked improvement with the weitecs? ive only ever fitted eibach springs on other cars and they did make a good difference, guessing the coilovers will be even better?

the ride is a tad firmer and a lot less crashy bangy then standard plus you get to choose the ride height you want. they are alot more predictable then the standard set up (if that makes sence)

i drove weitec kw and fk on my mk4 and i can tell the Fk was the most confortable don't have any problems yet (got it 4weeks) so i can't tell about quality but for me it's the most confortable

So the weitec give some really good handling then? im not expecting miracles but a nice grippy flat car through the corners would be good possibly even a bit of tripoding if im lucky? lol

youl be pushing hard for a tripod! even with weitecs and whiteline rarb on the stiffest setting i have not achived this yet

Im still undecided. do i go for fixed rate damping or adjustable or just a good damper and spring combination hmmm decisions decisions.

does anybody have a spring damper combo to reccomend?
