Well i brought an Ibiza Cupra a week ago, and it came today got a couple of little problems to sort (driver side window, some interior plastics) but more importantly....

The car is fitted with FK HighSport Coilovers, however when turning at slow speed there is a clunking noise from both sides of the car, it sounds like the front springs moving around in the spring seats.

The first item i suspect is top mount bearings being siezed, would this cause the springs to move in the seat?

Cheers

Yep, its the bearings, or as some people do, install the coilovers and forget to put the bearings back in. Me included. lol.

Get some white grease and spray it up in the cups to see if that helps.

Its the bearings, not the top mounts...

The mushroom thing on top...

springs (assistor to mains) can also jump even with perfect top bearings.
can be aided by greasing the platform where the springs sit

So do you just spray under the rubber then? can it be done without taking the legs off??

I'll 2nd that as thats what happened on mine. Just bosh a load o grease around where the springs seat before messing around with bearings and top mounts.

Ok got new top mount bearings, went to fit them and it seems there were no bearings fitted at all.

However i can't see how the bearings fit  the top of the coilover doesn't seem to fit the bearing in anyway.

well i've just put one on, and it fitted together ok, however i'm not entirerly sure it's right, it has stopped the clunking on that side though.

I really need someone to post a pic of FK coilovers with the bearings fitted, as i feel i may have a part missing.

top mounts....

Hi guys i have just purchased a mk3 2002 ibiza cupra r and when i turn and pull away there's a clunking noise coming from the suspension i think. It also clunks when i reverse and put the brakes on.

On the service report a couple of months ago it says the top mounts are loose, would this be the cause of it? And does anyone else have or had this problem?
