on the edge
Over the last couple of weeks i've been noticing a strange kind of creeking when going over speed bumps (very slowly of course) and after the dealer checking it out and greasing up the joints it is the same if not worse. The reason for this was because they have had a few Ibizas in recently with the same dried out bushes problem.

The best place to hear the noise is either very slow harsh bumps or 60mph +/- on undulating B roads.

At first i was positive it was from the front only but on the B roads it sounds like it could be from the rear as well.

Has anyone else experienced this recently in the dry and salted roads conditions ?

I'll be calling on monday to get it booked in for a proper inspection this time.

EDITED to add this link as reggie has just asked about it as well ( i didn't check first  )

Only when its been wet do I get a creaking sound from my rear suspension which I suspect to the bushes. I remember discussing this some time ago. Never taken my car to have it looked at but will mention it on Saturday when my car goes in to have my flakey knob replaced.

Cheers Darryl

I recorded the sound as i drove over the flat kind of speed ramp at 2mph, and it sounded like this.

Seems like it is from the centre of the car at the front, directly between the wheels, and is definately not the suspension.

Cheers, well it gets checked soon, but already i'm thinking, another trip will be required for replacement parts.

I have yet to get a spell of mor ethan 3 months without something going wrong :(

Seriously thinking that i got a friday afternoon car

If it didn't drive so well and suit my need sperfectly then i'd have changed it by now, but it's soo damn good

Mine creaks - originally when wet - since I lubricated it with bike chain lube, it creaks all the time now...

(I've just previewed this... Reads like a double-entendre (oops). No, I really am talking about the rear suspension... oops, there I go again...)

New strut bushes on order now, simply greasing them is near impossible because of location and no gaurantee of fix, so replacing them is whats happening (and the dealer gets paid for the work now ;) )

FIne by me, i get new bushes for the inconvenience fo having everyone i drive past thinking the suspensions about to colapse :(

if it is only on the drives side its probably creaking due to you eating too many pies :p

haha ha ha haha ha haaaaaaa..... no stop please your killing me, to funny - NOT !

Get some new material shorty, it's getting boring ;) :D

I've never heard bushes making a noise like that, sounds more like the exhaust hitting something (back axle) as you go over bumps.
Now you have.

New bushes, definately not the exhaust - it's at the wrong end of the car.

Might be fixed by then if the parts arrive this week, if not then you'll hear me coming before you see me :(

I've had a similar problem with the rear suspension bushings (mines more of a pop though). They seem to go every 50K km or so.

I have a dunk/bump noise from the rear drivers side, but they said they would investigate that after the front end was done - "too many noises to tell where that one is from exactly" - i recon they just use any excuse to drive my car again :D

When someone gets this creaking noise from the front end diagnosed, PLEASE post the reason why!

I noticed it in my 1.6 Leon after 20K miles. Took it to the dealer, they had it on ramps and took it for a test drive. Managed to hear the creak but could not discover what it was.

My Cupra now also has the same prob! This car has 16K on the clock but I could hear it soon after I picked it up!

Thanks.

BTTT

Neither the front creak/clunk sharp grating noise or the rear dunk/bump noise have been resolved yet - has anyone else had a similar noise sorted - ever ?

My rear "thunk" noise was eliminated with new rear shocks and top mounts. I think it only needed top mounts, but it was a warranty job :)

Your front end creak sounds weird

Cheers for that, yeah the front creak actually varies in how loud it is by how hot the temp is ?

I mean on a short trip even when engine heats up it is still quite quiet, but on 20 miles trip it is at it's loudest over same bumps 9and same speed bumps to house every day - even taken at 2mph :( )
