Brands Hatch track time :)

So a few of you will know, I've been invited to Brands Hatch for some free track time through AmD :D

I will be going with fellow TED Tuners' D.K and El so it should be great fun. It's a 20min evening session at Brands in July. Literally can't wait! Driven round there before but not in my car, a Renaultsport Megane 240, similar with FWD but that had an LSD and the handling out of the box was awesome. Also it wasn't mine so I really did give it some stick ;)

Should be interesting to see how my car gets on around there and hopefully I'll get some pics of it on my home race circuit as I've always wanted that for the project :D

I have said my car isn't ready for the track but others have said I was being a tart..

Clutch should be ok as I won't be launching it hard, brakes will be good and I've got great tyres. It's only 20mins but I know it may seem a lifetime on the track.

Could be a big thing for me and this car, as I do love it but have been looking at S3's again, lol. Having great fun round the track could make me keep the car and uprate the clutch and perhaps go for KW V3's etc next year so I can do a few more spirited track days in the old girl.

Roll on Brands' :)

Exactly what I did mate and trust me you will love it and the car will perform really well. You will be suprised what speeds you hit down the back straight, and paddock hill is really daunting the first time you take it at speed.
Prepare for a bit of brake fade tho,.and the brakes will prob be glowing (mine did) my friend behind me in his pulsar also got a video of me popping flames on his go pro camera :D

Haha, I bet you can get some great speed :) Think the Megane was near on 110 before entrance to Paddock but mine has more power :D I won't be going mental but I will have fun for sure.

Brake fade I am expecting but my fairly new DS2500's, EBC Ultimax and Motul RBF660 fluid should do ok I'm hoping.

The vid sounds sweet mate, can't beat some flames!

Track is a much smoother than the road so if fairly stiff you'll feel it grip for along time before it lets go and you dont get bounced on the imperfections a road has.
Although you say your brakes can handle it make sure you have a decent aftermarket fluid or in 20 minutes you will boil it and have some brown pants when you come back in
Then just try to be progressive on the throttle on the way out of the twisties as if you break traction its surprising how far the front will slide if at speed
Clutch will be fine, like you say you wont be launching

Cheers for the info mate. Fluid will be RBF660 so should do the job well and there is loads of life in my discs/pads, only a couple of months old and not a daily driver.
Will be nice to drive on a pretty smooth road for a change!! :cartman:

And yeah progressive throttle is the way to go, I keep to that even now on the road exiting roundabouts off motorways etc where you can get some speed, it's much safer and you will cover the ground with so much more pace. Should be real good fun :D

There's a supercharged R32 running over 500bhp coming which is pretty wired, so should be interesting if we are out on track at the same time.

Cool, nice one t0m hope you have a wicked day.

Always wanted to take mine out on track, and as you say, when its not your car you always drive how you always intended too when you watch old touring car videos. Im sure your motor will suprise you with all the grip it has.

Any idea on the process 'after' track days? ie do you need to service the car and give everything a good once over? Do you have to declare the 20 minutes to insurance? Sos for all the questions, just lately looking into getting a race licence thats all.

As doctor Gonzo said if tickets still going may pop down for this as a spectator... looks great fun

Cheers mate, should be a good one if it isn't raining, LOL.

Fingers crossed it puts down great grip as it does on the road now and it should make it great fun :D

Don't need to tell insurance mate as you're not covered.. Lol. As for post-trackday process, just going over the car really checking as much as you physically can. My car will be in good condition before it goes on track. Looking to do the oil change before the day also. I want to order Fuchs Titan Race 5w 40 fully synth, Opie oils are doing a good deal on it at the moment for 5 litres, buy that and get 1 litre free.

You don't have to tell your insurance they won't cover you at all after the day just check all you'r fluid levels and tyre pressures

Cheers Dan, covered what I typed above lol I should have read your post properly lol.
