Think if it was me, and with the inevitable rain....i would stump up the day insurance.

Anyway, that oil is defo the daddy. Are there any photographers on the day? Would love to get mine on film, on the track.

Meant to be the tits that oil

Oh yes! :D

Darren your forgetting that I will be on at the same time :drive2: haha

Loool I met a guy with an RS4 at Brands Hatch today who's going to be out on track when we are... 460bhp and a little more torque than me, should be interesting ;)

I'm not going to mate. I won't crash it, I don't plan on ragging it round like a BTCC car really. Even though there is other cars on track we all have rules to follow, overtaking only on the left hand side etc etc... I doubt I'll be out for the full 20mins. Once my oil temp starts creeping up a bit too much I'll be back in the pits to let her cool down. My aim is just to be able to say I've driven it round Brands' and I've always wanted to do it. I should be fine tbh.

On the oil, yeah it's the daddy. There isn't much better for these cars around tbh. It's suitable for track use also so it'll be good to get it in before I go round Brands' :)

Not sure on the photography mate will have to ask AmD soon, but it would be nice to have some pics/vids of my car going round for the history book.

Good lad, bought the same oil the for my service the other day. :)

Indeed you did :) Car all good mate?

I didn't have track insurance when I did mine, and tbh the 20mins sessions are pretty much idiot proof. As for oil temps when mine went sky high I pulled to the right put my indicator on and did a few slow laps to let it cool down. Had no problems with mine at all.

Just what I was thinking mate :)

I'll be doing exactly the same when the temps start to creep up. These engines take a good workout well I've found from whenever I've been on a blast and as long as you're not an idiot on track it should be all good.

Oil

So the brands hatch preparation continues with an oil change due this weekend.. new oil arrived today :D

Fuchs Titan Race Pro S 5w 40. Very highly rated by many people and this is the best recommended stuff by Opie Oils for my car. A good track oil also. Bought it through them and got the 1L free with the 5L bottle. Ordered Saturday night and arrived today, aswell as 7 air fresheners :D

Should be getting the oil done on Saturday. Once again great service by Opie on price and delivery, highly recommend anyone thinking of buying oil to use them! Drop the guy a question in his section on here for what oil he recommends for your car.

Hey Tom,

The oil seems to get very good reviews from fast road/track users. Opi seem to have a really good rep all round. Can I ask, you've gone for 5/40W. Is that the right grade for our engines? I've been using fully synthetic Valvoline until now but I might give this a chance.

Thanks :)

Hi James,

Yeah this oil is very highly rated now by many people and suits me perfectly right now for fast road and track use :D It's going in this Saturday so should be good. It is a compatible grade for our cars yes. This is off the Opie site in the description (Titan Race Pro S used to be called Silkolene Pro S, hence description having it down differently. It's recently changed its name).

Silkolene Pro S is simply one of the best quality engine oils there is! It's an ester based fully synthetic motor oil created to meet the most demanding use.

Silkolene Pro S is available in 3 different viscosity grades - Pro S 5W/30, Pro S 5w/40 (this product) and Pro S 10W/50. Silkolene Pro S 10W/50 is particularly recommended for use in warmer ambient temperatures.

Silkolene Pro S is suitable for use in all modern cars and is particularly recommended for high performance engines. The full synthetic base fluid ensures that the products are thermally stable and extremely resistant to oxidation, even when stressed to the extremes of endurance.

Silkolene Pro S 5w/40 is also known as:
Silkolene Pro Race 5w-40 oil
Silkolene ester synthetic 5w-40 oil
Silkolene Pro S competition engine oil

Give it a go mate. They are doing 5 litres for £49.99 at the moment with 1 litre free. 5 litres is enough for a full change on our cars. :)

Brake fluid.

So I bought another bottle of Motul RBF660 500ml race brake fluid today in preparation for track time and also for the fact it's overdue.

I have 2 500ml bottles already, but I have bought another one to be safe so the full flush can be done. It's been 3-4 years since the fluid was last done so it should certainly feel better.

Booked in for AmD this Saturday to get the fluid flush done and the oil service.

I saw that on the website. Thanks for the confirmation Tom :) As you say, such a good offer, so I'm gonna give it a go, even though I have some Castrol Edge that has been sat in the shed for over a year... Thanks once again. Hope Sat goes to plan.

James :)

Bottle of Motul RBF660 turned up today early doors at my house. Superb service from Opie, delivering on time as promised.

Will be down AmD early tomorrow getting the Fuchs oil and Motul fluid into the car. Expecting the brakes to certainly bite better on the way home.

After that it's a case of waiting for the trackday to come along... :D
