Like I said before Tom. You got a real fast car pushing limit of standard internals and turbo. Is having extra 30-40bhp really gonna make you happy? I don't think it would well maybe for first month it will. Then you will start thinking about changing for no reason. Your car is fast and I think you will run a hell of a lot of cars close.

Enjoy it for the summer, go for long drives, find some twisty roads... One thing I regret not doing in my Leon is going for a trip to Wales for some country lane fun.

Fitting rods is a good idea for long term peace of mind. The problem is while the engine's in bit where do you stop? A relentless mani is tempting especially at the price v gains. Large port head, but then do you have rebuilt? Then to make the most of it you'll need WMI. It's a slippery slope and like jonjay says how much is enough?

Standard valves will rev to 7k no probs & a largeport and WMI isn't nessecary on a k04 size turbo. Rods & bearings = peace of mind

Cheers mate.

When you're on it around normal roads it's more than enough to lose a license. On track more power through the front wheels won't really show unless you're bombing down the straight at Le Mans, lol.

Just want to enjoy it more. Most of the things on my list are cosmetic/ice/hoses/bay bling now. Still adds up to a fair bit.

You said it yourself mate, how much is enough? Personally for me what I have now is enough.

Not convinced by the Relentless mani's. Too many issues and if it was to give me an issue once on I'd really regret ever buying it.

I would rather go out and buy something new that can handle more power easily than go further through a FWD car. Evo is still an option one day, but not this year.

Might get it done, might not. I'm confident they won't let go but you can never say never of course.

Bill always say that even a standard power k04 will be idiot from WMI due to the heat they generate. If I'd fit it I'd fit it more for the cooling effect than for performance. For £100 a large port head is a no brainer given it increased flow. Like you said though James none of its needed but it would be rude not to while the engine in bits! Oh I forgot AGU pistons as well:D

Edit: I'm going through that thought process of how far to go before I buy a weekend car.

I can't be done with all that now. Leaving it be and enjoying it this year :)

It might be no more next year so I'm going to have a good season with it. Especially after this sh!tty winter.

Tom. One thing I learnt and to be fair I only learned this from selling the Leon, regretting it and then buy cars that I hardly modified. You have to enjoy the car and you have to drive it. I wish I took my Leon to Wales and Europe for long driving experience. I would rather do that than any mod. Now the car is sorted for you just enjoy it and enjoy the mods you have.

I think people fall in love with tinkering rather than driving nowadays.

Yeah I see your point mate. You could have got a fair bit more use out of your Leon but that's done and dusted now. You've got to enjoy the S4, especially now it's mapped.

I do know I'm going to enjoy the car this year for sure. Big mechanical work is done and I can plan some trips and drives out, even down to the coast etc during the summer, will be sweet :)

Totally agree with that last statement. It's why I don't want to tinker with going for more power in the engine. It's reliable and quick enough for me to put a big grin on my face, so why bother... Roll on the warmer weather for some fun drives out in the car! :D

I always thought about trying to organise a trip down to Brighton or somewhere like that, just not sure it would get any interest!

Sounds good mate. I'll be up for it. Less than an hour down to Brighton if you leave early from mine.

Could get plenty of photo's too.
