Mini Update - ebay fmic success

As many of you will know, my lower fmic piping with the TX kit is NOT BEADED.

This has become a problem and only last Friday after leaving AmD, did one of the lower silicone pieces blow off one of the metal hard pipes down near the cooler. Considering the power the car is running I'm not surprised it is coming off not being beaded..

But still, I've had a moan to the ebay seller who I bought the kit off last year stating the kit is rated to 350bhp and this should not be happening. Also that I am a regular user on the biggest SEAT forum going and can soon give negative feedback to others who may potentially buy your kit... and so on ;)

Anyway, I got a reply today from them just wanting to confirm a couple of details, and after that is done, they will post out the same lower fmic hard pipes, BUT BEADED :)

Hopefully this will be tomorrow as I've confirmed the requested details they wanted about 2hrs ago. Fingers crossed they fulfill their promise to me and I can get the last 2 vulnerable pieces of my setup fixed for good.

Hoses blowing off at motorway speed in the middle lane, in rush hour, is not something I want to put up with much more. Quite a frightening experience with the sudden loss of speed on such a dangerous road as the M25.

Thanks mate :) You've gotta be proud of your LCR though! TBH it's one of the better one's on here and I'm subscribed to your thread and always keep an eye on it.

DK cleaned mine ;)

He used autoglym vinyl and rubber care and speed detailer I think. But he will confirm..
I was nosing around his car alot of the time getting more food for thought!

Cheers mate,:D its a work in progress at the minute. Car insurance and MOT are due in July and I'm taking the missus away for her birthday at the same time so funds are tight. She's also starting Uni next March so after July it'll be a race to get things done before were skint:( I've pretty much decided I want some Weitec Hicon GT coilovers now, so fingers crossed I'll get the funds raised asap after July.

Awesome work, i am a fan of super clean bays, what process did you use? Did you detail the lower engine block and surrouding areas?

Both cars are looking awesome:D, very jealous of the standard of both of them.
What do you both use to clean the bay?

I did'nt really go too mad on Tom's bay, it was just a bit dusty.
We started by spraying the side's of the bay, suspenstion turrets, bulk head, around the gear box and the lead edge of the bonnet with my pressure washer, If you leave the pressure washer turned OFF you get a very fine high pressure jet, not as fierce as when it's turned ON.
We sprayed all the surfaces with Megs QD and dried it all off.
The bonnet lead edge, suspenstion turrets, front slam panel and the insides of the wings where then polished with AutGlym SRP.
All the plastic cover were coated in AutoGlym Rubber and Vinyl care spray, this was left on to soak for about 20 minutes then buffed up.
All metal bit's were treated with AutoSol metal polish.

It came out pretty well :D

Ahh we're all at that work in progress stage don't worry mate. Mine is very far from being complete to my wallet's disgust!

Weitec's great choice, great coilovers! I'm the same with my missus as I mentioned to DK yesterday

Nice result on the beaded pipes Tom

Cheers mate. Hopefully no more blow offs on the motorway!

Maz and Daz - you guys make me laugh. But boy do you two know what your doing with the detailing side of things! Very impressed with both of you tbh.

I never expected a quick detail with those products to turn out so well. Very happy with the result! I will be getting all of the mentioned products and more over the coming months. I love the bay looking like that and really want to keep it that way from now on.

No point having the charge pipe & mani polished if they are to be neglected now!

Waiting for a confirmation reply from the ebay seller of my fmic kit to say they will be sending out 2 lower metal beaded pipes for my kit as promised.

Will keep you guys updated.. So if anyone wants to go down the TX fmic route for LCR, you should make sure you get the beaded lower pipes to save yourself the hassle I have gone through when running higher boost.

On-board sound/video clip

This is the 1st on-board sound clip I've ever done in a car I think so apologies for the poor quality on the iphone!

Just wanted to record the sound the other evening.

Update

Nothing done this weekend folks due to time, I've not even cleaned her :ban:

However, I've just managed to do a full vagcom fault code scan on the car for the 1st time since I had lambda/knock troubles last week.

AmD certainly did fix it as there are 0 faults showing :funk: and she pulls like a train! I must get some g/s readings on the road 3rd and 4th gear soon. I need someone to sit in the car to hold the laptop while I drive!

However, as some of you might know my fans do play up and cut in on high speed sitting in traffic for no reason even after a minute of the engine being on. Not ideal and this is next to fix.

I noticed this on my fault scan below.. Is it related?

Address 08 -------------------------------------------------------
Controller: 1M0 820 043 E
Component: 1M-CLIMATRONIC X0702
Coding: 00041
Shop #: WSC 06402
Note: Excessive Comm Errors

As it's to do with the CLIMATRONIC component I wondered if this may well be related to my fan issues? Who knows. It's probably the control module which is shot.

Annoying if it is going to be a pricey full fan replacement, as it'll delay ARBs and full polybushing. But hey ho, she's worth it ;)

Tom I'll give you a hand with the logging, we can do mine aswell :D

Cool mate, sounds good :D

Do you know how to do it on vagcom? I have a rough idea, it's in jamjay's thread I think.

I'd like to know what g/s she's getting in on the road. :)

Loving the video mate. Still sounds immense.

Wish I wasn't saving for tax, mot, insurance and servicing at the moment :(

Once that's done though gotta get me a jetex cone to pair with my soon to be bought 007p.

Cheers bud :)

My tax is up in a couple of months too. Sucks don't it!

If you do want a Jetex cone, I'd highly recommend a heatshield not just for the obvious, but for securing your filter and save you damaging your MAF further down the line. 007p with a panel filter will be good mate, I've run the setup myself. You will notice the 007p being better at holding the boost and to me it sounds a tad louder even on standard map.

Also mate, you should bring your car round to mine one weekend soon when it's in need of a good clean up! Would like to have a go at the red and see how it can turn out. Take some pics on my gf's SLR and have a photoshoot. See if DK wants to pop along.
