All them luxurious inside a brick on a Quattro system :p hehe. Will be good if you get one, finally join the big boys club TFSI club :)

 the S3 looks the best out of the 2.0 TFSI's IMO... it has to be 3dr though and the right colour, plus the wheels need a change of colour too, but then it's there, lol.

most admit i have been thinking of my next car in a yr or 2 :( thinking a M3 / Evolution IX MR FQ-360 or a RS4 for a crack haha

Evo out of that bunch for me mate..

RS4's have had more probs than I thought they would once people start to tune them. Although this still makes me want one at times, lol...

Update..

I have been informed the new goodies have arrived at AmD and as I'm off work next Thursday, I will be getting them fitted then :D

Also getting knock sensor done, plus one other thing done to the car..... ;)

Noticed my oil is a bit on the low side (no leaks have had a good check just to be sure) and decided I'd top her up with something other than Castrol, so ordered this yesterday:

Thanks to Oilman on here at Opie who helped me out with my choice, he recommends Fuchs and the Silkolene S oils over your Castrol's so I'm giving it a go. Will be doing a full change using this stuff early next year :)

Oil turned up today from Opie.. Liking the air freshener you get with it too lol :)

As I'm off work this Thursday I'm going to get it in the car then. Also going AmD to get a few bits done. Looking forward to it!

Off to AmD nice and early tomorrow morning.. So after going to my mates house tonight I've just given the car a quick vag-com scan and yep, the knock sensor is there in all it's glory!

Only problem though is that now it's brought 2 little friends with it

3 Faults Found:
17705 - Pressure Drop between Turbo and Throttle Valve (check D.V.!)
P1297 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent
17535 - Fuel Trim: Bank 1 (Mult): System too Rich
P1127 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent
16716 - Knock Sensor 2 (G66): Signal too Low
P0332 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent
Readiness: 0000 0000

Hopefully it won't get too expensive tomorrow as I've got something else I want done to the car aswell!

These two fault codes look very familiar to me t0m i had these when the AMD map was on

Could never get rid of them thats when i changed the map

It's not map related mate. Top one is a boost leak which you can get on any car ;)

My car has been running the amd stage 2 since jan earlier this year and it's been fine until the last couple of months. The fuel trim code is very likely related to the knock sensor being faulty. It's being replaced this morning so I'll see how it is after that. But these codes don't point to the map tbh.

It's just your car giving you grief because it knows you want to trade it in for a younger model :p It's probably something minor mate, sure they will sort it

Yeah the code suggests boost leaks etc but mine had no leaks checked twice lol also the other fault code problem didn't exist either conclusion was it was the map playing silly buggers see what AMD say, yours may have a problem if they find no leaks etc welcome to my world!

Just got back from AmD, turned out I have a leaky TIP! Saw it with my own eyes aswell. The adapter is leaking air at the plate where it meets the turbo.

Had the knock sensor replaced as planned and the car has been lowered a little more :)

Tom, hello mate.

im also thinking about an S3 in summer/winter 2012.
which model are you thinking about? 8p1, 2, or 3?

for me, i have to go for s-tronic, its time for refinement and luxury now. perhaps hitting the 20k price (i think that 8p2 onwards, not sure)

whats essentials are you looking for when buying the s3?

thought id ask - start getting peoples views, get on the learning curve with the S3

cheers
Joe

You have lowered it a little more?!?! Tom you will ruin the handling mate. Also how are you going to get over bumps?!??!

On the tip, was it resolved or going back to B5?

phew glad it wasn't anything serious!

fault code free then :)

Yep, gave the car a scan earlier and it's fault code free :)

Topped her back upto near full with the Fuchs Titan oil aswell and she already feels better for it on the drive to the gym and back!? Crazy but good :)

Hi Joe,

I'm holding off the S3 idea for now. Gotta seriously look again at the maths and decide whether it's worth delaying moving out for one or not.. Hmm! I could keep the LCR when I move out easily. The S3 I dunno, I'd just want to do loads to it once more like I have with the Cupra.

I was looking at 08 plate S3's around that age really. £13-16k tops assuming I get decent money for mine. Still undecided but keeping the LCR would get me on the ladder much quicker..

I would have been after sat nav, bose stereo and it would have had to be in blue if I was getting one. Not really thought about wanting much more. Oh and s-tronic!

Get on audi-sport for a proper run-down on them buddy. Hope your quest for one goes well!

Erm yes I have mate.. Not much though! It's not crazy low. I'll put a pic up in a moment.

I get over bumps just fine at the moment, as there aren't really many in my area!

Nick wanted to re-fit the B5 TIP to see if it'd be any better but I've held off and just ordered an SFS 3" one while I was down there for a good price.. :)

So all in all it's been a pretty good day for the car today, here's what got done:

-lower fmic boost leak sorted (won't be a problem come the end of Jan when I get my new fmic :p)
-hoses off of TIP tightened, there were some leaks here!
-Faulty knock sensor 2 replaced.
-Had the car lowered some more..
-Oh and I ordered an SFS 3" TIP while I was at it!

Thanks to AmD for the above work! Top service as usual from the guys there. Nick was really helpful today and gave me some great advice for the car.

I also topped the oil right up with the Fuchs Titan GT1 fully synth. Car already feels smoother and starts quicker? Seems strange to me to have that effect so soon, but it definitely did earlier before I left for the gym. Nice to know it's in there now anyway.

The car felt faster on the way home, was boosting much harder so there was definitely leaks there. However, there is still one there, and that's my current 3" TIP where it meets the turbo on the adapter plate - this is leaking and the fit onto my turbo is proving to be quite a pain. So I've ordered the SFS one to compare it to the B5 one. Should get that fitted within 2 weeks or so once it's been made up for me, in red of course.
