....Well I can't update my rr thread title but just thought I'd update here as it's been a few weeks.

So tonight dropped the car off at my friends for it's MOT tomorrow at Chelsfield Motor Works. Hopefully all go through fine.

The 3" SFS TIP STILL isn't with me, but should be very soon now from what I'm told!! Looking forward to getting it on and doing some logging..

Speaking of which, I've now got vagcom for windows 7 and my new laptop with a full version of MS Office so I can now get the logs started when the time comes.

Can anyone tell me how this is done? Looking at doing airflow g/s peak readings? Guessing this is 4th gear runs?

Hope the car goes fine tomorrow mate
For logging find somewhere quiet and long, 4th gear and block 003 will give MAF readings.
If you log block 020 at the same time you'll see the CF's for each cylinder too

This is the advise Robbie (rsmith) gave me when I asked about logging some time ago to work out if I h ad a issue with the car:

Realistically its very hard to log 4th gear to redline an keep your license.3rd runs from low rpm to 6.5/7k rpm will do fine and should give you a good guess'timate, CF's might be a bit lower in 3rd due to decreased load but it will do the trick.

Log 002+020, then 115+118 then 002+031, that covers the main area's we need to look at G/S, IDC's, boost, Turbo DC's, IAT, CF's and fueling.

P.S they need to be logged in paires(block+block), i.e 115 will give you boost requested V actual and 118 will give us Turbo/N75 duty cycles, so together we can see what Duty cycles it takes for the turbo to produce the actual boost.

The two words 'friend' and 'mot' usually means a pass right ;)

Erm.... :p

Cheers bud, should be fine though I'm told ;)
I haven't even looked at these 'block's' - is there a youtube tutorial on this lol? Cheers thoughso 003 is the one for MAF, good stuff. I sometimes think the MAF is on it's way out so logging this will confirm if it's behaving as normal or not right?

Cheers mate. So you think 3rd will be just as good to use?

Darren wants to do logging aswell so do you think you could pop along when we want to do this and show us the ropes?

My mate has logged the boost requested vs actual - I remember when my N75 was slightly unplugged and the car didn't feel remapped LOL... requested was way above a FLAT actual line on the graph as I booted it in 4th.... Plugged the N75 in after much head scratching and all was fine lol.

:)

Of course mate, happy to come along :)

As Robbie states the g's will be lower in 3rd so 4th is ideal, just trying to find a safe place to do it

An old retired airfield? Lol.

Cheers mate, will be good to see what needs to be done. Might have to take some notes!

Hey Tom,

Glad to hear that the car is still running well. No luck needed for the MOT then... Is the car having any problems with the present B5 TIP, as I know you'd said that it hadn't been seating properly at the turbo inlet? The SFS TIP does look very well made, and shouldn't cause any problems in the future I wouldn't have thought...

The car is looking so nice and complete now with Maz's old wheels on :)

there are no issues with fitment of the b5 billet part unless fitted incorrectly... (somehow???)
the guide for fitting is here> http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?t=340106

Its precision machined, and fits perfectly.

Sorry, not a criticism. I remember reading Tom's RR thread last month, relating to an air leak around the tubby, as identified by AMD/Tom (pg86/87)...

If it counts for anything Bill, I'm ordering a B5 V2 TIP from Awesome with my Christmas vouchers :)

James.

no problems with badger 5 tip here :D keep it going t0m! thats slooooooow delivery with the replacement something i can' stand!

I don't think there's anything wrong with it, Tom just can't resist buying something new for the car :p lol. Also regarding MOT, my old Cupra R use to pass before it even got to the garage lol. It had a decat you know so had to use a Citroen saxo to do the exhaust readings ;) But the major things were always checked over on the car

Oh and Tom. Do logs with the B5 TIP and the sfs TIP for a comparison

Gave the car a quick scan tonight and the boost leak code is back.. The base of this TIP I can hear hissing on idle, so not ideal.

SFS one should be on next week then we'll have another blast/scan.. I reckon it will sort it personally!

It's the adapter plate by the turbo mate it's just a bad fit to my turbo sadly!

New SFS one is ordered into amd I'm over there next week will leave it with them while I Xmas shop lol. I'll post up in here how the car is after. I'm thinking it'll be fine! Cars speed isn't helped by running **** fuel at the mo she hates it. Shell was closed down near me and not re-opening for another month so she's been running rubbish stuff I've put in some proper cr@p fuel mate not good need some v-power in her fast! Lol.

Once the SFS TIP is on I will do a comparison after driving the car home mate.
At the moment there's a lot of air leaking out around the adapter. It may just be my one tbh, who knows.

Will feedback in here how it goes and how the car feels with that one on.

Pressure drop code come back 2 nights ago, so it's still losing air at the moment.

I'm going to be going on a Forge hose spending spree soon getting all the small one's and remaining ones left to do. And I mean ALL of them - at once. :)

 As long as the car is running healthily Tom... Look forward to seeing the logs :)

MOT Passed.

Guys, I'm not getting drawn into the TIP debate. I will fit the SFS and go from there..

Moving on..

The car flew through it's MOT today! :D Got loads of praises from the MOT tester and people at my mates garage where he works, well chuffed...

So we started discussing my the service as that's next to do... turns out I will only need an oil change/filter change this year. Plugs are good for another year, NGK's only covered 3k since fitting and the car went to stage 2. So that saves some pennies... Road tax is end of this month but once out of the way it's just insurance to get sorted.

In terms of mods, we again had a good chat! I've got the SFS TIP on the way, then I'm a bit unsure what to do next. TBH I don't drive the car much, but the brakes do need doing. The pad worn light hasn't come on yet, but they are at the later end of their life now.. So this could be the next thing to do. Change of FMIC is inevitable aswell. Uprated clutch kit...

Full bushkit wants doing too, along with the front ARB... Plenty of work to do, then a Wavetrac diff is going to be thrown in for good measure ;)

Then she'll be pretty much there come the end of the season.

Very excited to see this unfold and finished this year! :D

Glad it's had a clean bill of health Tom! Funny how these chats evolve into a list as long as your arm... Will be so worth it though!

Sorry about the above! Wasn't at all intentional; I'm not that kind of person. Was just interested to hear how the car was holding up with all beans under the bonnet :)

No worries James, no probs with the post, just had enough debate elsewhere lately! Just want to crack on with the car now in a positive light :)

She's holding up well with the power mate, still flies along just needs some fresh oil and some v-power! My bloody local Shell has been closed down since November and the car has felt a bit rougher ever since she's been running on all sorts of other petrol. The AmD Stage 2 map was tailored to v-power and I get the most power from using that for sure IMO. Always reacts well to a full tank of the stuff. Looking forward to them re-opening the garage soon hopefully!

All good though generally, just need to push on now and get her finished by the end of the summer. That's the aim.

Congrats on flying through the MOT bud  can't wait to see this in the flesh!

Cheers mate. When will I be meeting you this year?
