Tapping noise

Hi all,

I’ve had a bad rapping noise coming from the offside rear of the car when I go over bumps or small potholes, I’ve been trying to find the noise for months but I can’t. Now it’s started on the near side rear too which is annoying.
Anyone else experienced this?

Any chance of recprding the noise? Maybe have someone in back or have someone record as ur coming down street over bumps?.

Tapping noise I meant to say, autocorrect strikes again. I’ll try and get a recording of the noise when I go back out later on. It sounds like metal on metal or a metal hose/pipe tapping on another piece of metal.

Maybe let us know the age of your Ibiza and its engine type - just in case it helps.

Could be a heat shield that has dropped down, ie an exhaust heat shield, but that would be more on the RHS for the one that normally falls down first.

Also check the dust covers on the shock absorbers, if/when the bump stops break free the dust covers (pipe covers) fall down.

Thanks for your suggestions, I’ll be sure to check those out. My car is a 2013 Ibiza FR 1.2tsi. Like I said in my previous post it started on one side and now recently I can hear it coming from the other side. It hasn’t bothered me through the winter but now the weather is nicer and my windows are down it’s driving me insane
