Tar spots on car

I washed my car this afternoon using turtle namo shampoo, whiched failed to remove all the tar spots on the car, esp on the drivers and passenger door. Tried waxin the car, but all it does is smear the tar everywhere and make it worst. Iv noticed there are alot of tar removing products on the market place, but im not sure of which one to buy. So could anyone point me in the right direction, cheers

Tardis Tar and Glue remover will work - spray it on, leave it for a minute or so to "melt" the tar, then wipe off with a microfibre.

Or, you could clay the paintwork, which will also do a great job of removing the spots. Depending on how bad it is, you could probably get away with using a mild clay together with a clay lube - make sure the panel and clay bar are wet all of the time to avoid any marring and work on a panel at a time... rub the clay gently back and forth over the paintwork and you'll be able to feel it lifting all of the contaminants. Once you've finished a panel check the clay and you should see the brown marks, fold the clay in on itself to reveal fresh clay, then start on the next panel

Autoglymm Tar remover here, works everytime.
Cleaned a mates MR2 for her at the weekend and it was terrible, tar marks everywhere, but it got them off no bother.

I use Sticky stuff remover. It's brilliant, great for getting rid of bugs too and its cheap.

A good claybar takes all of the tar off, well worth the money

Suprisingly baby wipes are also very good!

They bring the tar straight off with very minimal rubbing, god only knows what they put on these baby wipes............poor baby's bums lol

I'd clay bar the whole car, definitely worth the effort, feels so smooth after

I'd only recommend claying the car if it hasn't been done in a while and the paint is no longer smooth. Using clay to solely get off tar is a very expensive and time consuming method. Stick with dedicate products to save time and money is the way forward.

Chris I would not recommend using wipes on a car as they will causing swirls/scratches. Stick with a dedicate product and microfibre to reduce the potential of swirling.

I'd also like to add that he more aggressive clays cause marring so a product with some cut after you flayed the car is recommended.

Sorry but claying expensive?? I bought a clay bar kit for £15 I think it was? I wouldn't say that its that time consuming and its well worth the effort

You can be litres of tardis for £15 so yes claying is expensive.

You do realise that you can get tarspots the very next day even after claying. Are you saying to clay the car everytime you get a tarspot? Doesnt sound practical to me.

no of course not but if the whole car is covered in them....and its never been done. Then I think its worth it.

i use Autoglymm Tar remover myself but i must try the baby wipe's when the wife gets home caus i cant believe they remove tar ???
