Yeah looks right one although that one opens at a lower temp than the standard, that one would have been better for me but I didn't know they done one 
Just to throw in my tuppence worth - I've been getting the same issue: temp gauge drops as soon as I'm going down hill. LEE69 on here told me it was probably the thermostat which seems to be confirmed here (especially as I spent £27 on a genuine CTS to replace what was probably a perfectly good one

In my old LC it caused the engine to run rich and numerous engine management lights but none so far this time (been 2-3 months without any drop in mpg or performance) so I haven't been too fussed about sorting it). Slightly concerning that it may result in coolant going round the radiator constantly - is it something that I really should get fixed? It's going in for an MOT tomorrow so might ask them to have a look

Thermostat! excatly what mine did, up and down hills and accelerating and breaking hard.
Its worth getting sorted I'm sure my MPG has gone up since changing it.

Why run a cooler stat the car is designed to run at 90 deg.

My mate ran a "Race" thermostat (basically a a cooler thermostat) in his 486bhp GT4 - basically if you're running big horsepower it'll open the thermostat earlier and cool the engine a bit more, cooler cylinder walls etc can hep to prevent knock., but his was running DTA Pro stand alone engine management so it was all mapped accordingly.
The ECU in the LCR however is set to operate within a specific operating temp (obviously there's margins) but if you run a colder thermostat it may end up worse than having a sticky thermostat... running rich, which can end up knackering your cat etc...

my gauge has just started going abit dolally but when check coolant temprature on the climate control display it still stays at 90 even though dash gauge is bit up and down but never above 90.
