I know this is a contentious subject on forums but had my 88K 2006 LCR 225 Terraclean'd Saturday and must say I am initially impressed.

Now I'm not saying it's got massive increase in power or anything but it is definately audibly quieter and smoother on tickover, generally eager to rev and is very noticably smoother.

The main area I found it's better is traffic driving (of which I do alot living in London) it is just much easier to pull away (less revs) and new will happlily sit 30mph in 6th even up small hills.

It's made that much difference even the Missis noticed without me telling her anyhting had been done and she hasn't spotted the new Recaro interior yet.

Only done 60 odd miles of mixed driving so can't comment on MPG but being able to use 6th gear at 30 and less revs to pull away and pootle in traffic I can imagine it will improve.

Doesn't it go in the fuel line? You don't normally spray fuel in your sold side of the turbo though.

yeah but apparently its something to do with the gases become a lot hotter and not all the stuff gets burned off?? dont hold me to that though lol only what he told me

Anything it does is only going to work post injectors.

I did get some speil about it working the whole lot then I let the guy know I fully understand how and an engine works as I looked into buying a machine so know the theory behind it being a negativly charged fuel that is supposed to break down the positivly charged carbon build up but also can't see how it would work upstream of where it's fed into the system.

He then said they are working on something that can be fed into the intake and clean this part of the system but I'm a bit sceptical as to why you'd need to go that far as most of it can easily be removed and cleaned by hand as it isn't subject to post detination exhaust gases. Plus I doubt there is much that you could throw at a Turbo that would clean the vanes and still have the ability to be compressed without causing issues.

I went into this with my eyes wide open but thinking you change your oil, coolant etc why not run this through to keep the fuel system every couple of years to give it a clean out, if it get's rid of some of the carbon build up then bonza.

Once they show a before and after head I will yet to be fully convinced.

I don't see it as a total solution but just an addition to good maintenence.

Well terraclean done. My findings so far:
As soon as it started up I could hear the engine sounded quieter and slightly more refined. Felt alot more free revving. On pulling away it revved quicker and is more responsive, a bit nippier. When I put my foot down it pulls so much harder and turbo kicks in harder to the point that when I floored it along a dual carriageway my partner said it actually turned her stomach from the acceleration. Coming on and off throttle is alot smoother too so really helps with traffic.

I cannot really comment on mpg yet as the trip computer will be out having run for an hour without moving during the clean so will update afterva tank. My car only gad 35k so if youre considering this do it, its worth it especially on a diesel.

My partner did her petrol too, same improvement but not to the same extent due to carbon in diesels. However they did emissions test before and after and it failed before on lambda reading and passed after. Also cleared lamda fault on diagnostic having been cleaned during treatment.

Today I refuelled for the first time, previously i only got 420 miles til the fuel light came on. Got 462 this time so 10% increase in miles per tank.
Mpg figures have increased from 36 to 41. Figures calculated not taken from trip meter.

Just put £100 quid of optimax in and go for a good thrash . Supermarket fuel with no additives is the real problem .

I think theres a little more to it than that. Have it done and you'll see for yourself. Terraclean is proven to work and cleans everything from the fuel system to the cat etc. It was designed as an alternative fuel but was found to be too expensive. During research the scientists discovered that engines they were testing were being restored to as new condition, something to do with the charge of the neutrons and electrons etc. As such it was re engineered as a cleaning product instead. There is one to do the egr too but this is not readily available as yet and I think involves a lot more so will be more expensive. I would imagine it will be very popular though.

I use super from Esso and mine has got 2mpg better and nicer to drive since.

Forgot to mention that is also town driving only and I've calculated Fuel cost and milage coverd not just the MFD which is 2.8mpg better.

Not been out of London since I had it done so no doubt would be better on a long run.

will have the car RR before it's Mapped on Friday so will be interesting to see what it's making compared to standard. (i.e. not lost anything in 9 years)
