Fitted a set of coilovers and a set of wheels with some tyre stretch and the amount of arch gap on the back is a :censored:take. Rang rimstyle for a bit of advice and he said that the suspension set-up on the 6L limits the drop on the rear.

Is there a set of coilovers out there that can go lower? I've done some research and every kit seems to drop to a maximum of 60mm on rear.

Currently on 16" alloys and not realy a fan of anything bigger.

Thought about removing them, but they seem very thin so the extra drop would be very small if I was to remove them.

You might be suprised... sometimes 20mm extra drop from removing the cups! Are these the AP coilies?

I might give it a go as I have nothing to lose. Yeh they're AP, quite common these days. A good set despite the ride heigh on the rear with 16" alloys.

Have you also considered that after about 2-3 weeks of use the Coilys will also "Settle" which means they will drop alot more

When i fitted mine it was still riding abit high 2-3 weeks later its alot lower now

I wouldn't worry too much, like AndrewJB say's the coilies will bed in and then you might feel it is low enough... You should be feeling sorry for me, you could fit 3 - 4 small children in my arches!

Defo take the rear adjusters out on the AP's, I did it on mine after thinking its not low enough, and now it sits perfect!

Haha i could get a couple of cows in my arches before i got my coilys :p

Another issue with people always trying to get the back as low as possible is that they are usually messing up the rake angle (pitch) of the car which affects turn in.

@RichardCupra & NickFR: Few people seem to suggest that I should remove the adjustors so I'll give it a go sometime soon, and if things go belly up I can always pop them back in. Roughly how much extra did you get NichFR?

@AndrewJB: Noticed that the car did settle after the 2-3 week period but they've been on for about 3 months now so don't think they'll settle anymore!!

@KellyM: Haha since when have children been the new measuring unit!?

Picture so you can see what I'm going on about.

Roughly 10mm from taking the rears out, looks much better. One thing though, get ridoc the stretch tires, looks crap and can make them unstable

Yeh i'm not a fan of the wheels myslef. They're actually a friends which i borrowed as trial fit as i wanted to see how the 9''s looked on the rear. But there's too much poke and stretch for my liking. So decided that it's 7.5 all round with 20mm spacers on the rear for when I buy my keskins.

Thanks for advice

i had that problem on my ibiza! its a good level on the front but not the rear! apparently thats for if theres any passengers in the back seats allowing give in the suspension!

there was a recent cruise in Co.Antrim (my area) and i decided to remove the rear adjusters and put 2 bags of coal in the boot! yea it was considerable low but maybe to low! it felt as though the handling was about half what it could be! so just refitted the adjuster and removed the weight! !

it took a few weeks but the suspension seems to be just right atm!

if only suspension was actually about handling, rather than looks this would be so much easier.

thank god that the only thing that matters is that a car can drag its arse along the ground...
