when i think of classic cars,it usually stems from motorsport, and usually rallying.
cosworth,intergralle,escort,mini, evo,scoobie.

the only classic that SEAT has IMHO(read that bit again IMHO) is the mk2 ibiza GTI/cuprasport 2ltr 16v,
3 back to back F2 championships AFAIK no other manufacturer has/had done this ,
they failed to make a big impact in WRC with the corboda.
but now in tin top racing people are looking again at SEAT.lets see how they do in this years/future BTCC and see if we have a future classic in the new cupra.
and yes i did forget the cupra championship,it's not exactly big, except in those that go watch it(us),not quite widespread enough to reach the masses to make it a classic.

I saw a bit of the cupra series on tv the other week, the lcr are still being raced in tin tops, in the R category, so who know's maybe it will go future classic,

Trouble is it's a bit of an unknown, it's only really enthusiants that know about it's qualities, it hides it's abilities too much i think, which is great for us lot, not so good for the sales figures, because SEAT is still seen by many average car buyers as a nothing make a bit like skoda used to be i suppose, which is very unfair, but it assures a little rarity value if nothing else, and could help keep the residules up a bit, hopefully...

I dont think the LCR will be a classic. I looked in to this when buying my LCR as i was swaying to the VRS and thats more of a classic. If you look at the older classics like 205 GTI and R5 GT and what makes them classics. Try getting a good 205 now days, very hard. i just sold my 205 CTI on a k reg in mint condition and really wish i had kept it.

LCR will not be a classic, its not on kids bedroom walls, not in max power or fast car. People really dont know what they are (which is good) and for it to become a classic CHAV's have to buy them, smash them up so people know what a LCR is.

The day you have to look at 50+ LCRs before finding a good one is the day its a classic. (not going to happen as there isnt many).

More chance of the LC being a classic, but i would say the golf has taken that place. Look at 306 gti6 or s16, more of them over the citreon zx 16v, same car and had the same engine in later ones. Same story with Golf and Leon.

Now about Chavs. You know when its becoming a Chav car as Halfords and essix racing will have pages of s**t body kits, Dial kits, DIY window tints and peco exhausts. Simple look on ebay for Leon bumpers, or light and you dont find much. I wouldnt worry about Chavs getting on the wagon for LC's or LCRs. They all follow EVO's and Scoobys.

Just so people add these to the classic list.

205 GTI
309 GTI
405 T16
405 Mi16
R5 GT
306 GTI6 - s16

posting very late in the topic but...... compare the LC/R to something like the Escort Cosworth.......some think that is the chavs ultimate wepon, but some examples are around and being sold for well over 30k due to be last off the line sub 1k milers! now they are legendry cars.

IMO the Leons are just brilliant cars for the time were at now, not a classic tho.
