So its still sat on my drive - no turbo , dead battery and flat tires (well very low).

"Last Chance Really" has gone beyond its last chance and will more then likely be going to the scrappy within the next couple of weeks.

So after 6 years or so of membership on here its also time to say "Goodbye" - Hopefully this forum will continue to support the Mk1 Cupra owners and those with their various issues dont get backed into making the decision I have had to.

Sorry to see you go brother, maybe one day you’ll step into a newer cupra. I know these old turbo cars are a pain really.

Why is it going to scrappy and maybe it's something that could come in my direction if you're done with it?

Nooooooo, end of an era!!
That’s a @ucka.
Sorry to hear your relationship has come to a close.
Almost as long as most marriages.
Been a while buddy.
Not worth a recon turbo unit?
Or has the love died with the turbo?
Don’t scrap it. Wheels are worth 200 quid alone. If not too ripped up.
Bumpers and wings should make you 300-350 min.
Headlights if they have all the clips etc along with exhaust worth a few more squid.
Those are all easy to remove tbh.
Catalytic converters again 100+
But sure you know all that any how.
What’s the new car of choice?
Better not be some 1.3 l eco boost style rubbish or the scn mob will be coming round to have words!!

So having thought about it overnight (My head is not in a particularly good place at the present) I realise that my post was short on fact and more like a certain newspaper named after an object in the sky.

I have already replied to a couple of pm's on here but am also putting up some more relevant information

I am waiting on a turbo that I have bought and paid for but hasn't been delivered yet and so far no communication with the firm I purchased it from. If however there's been no communication by the end of next week , then I will be seeking a full refund via the credit card company (they say have to wait 21 days) and will then make a final decision on what I am going to do. .
The car is currently fully road worthy and driveable, the issue is that the oil seals on the compressor side have failed/are failing and so at around 5/6 psi the turbo starts screaming its head off and the boost pressure is feeding up the oil feed line/drain line. All the boost side pipes are internally coated in sticky oil.
It doesnt burn oil or blow smoke out the exhaust and the exhaust tip is dry.

So what I would say is that I need to wait to see what happens with the turbo (but so far not holding out any hope) first, dont get me wrong in a very twisted way I love this old car (I think I've owned it the longest out of any car I've had). But very limited funds and no space to work on it means i have to think with my head not my heart.

On to the "end" part - I fully realise my posts are neither terribly helpful nor useful, I am a very stressy person by nature and tend to act first and think second, my posts reflect that so I decided that to remain on the forum (car issues not withstanding) was in no ones benefit and was probably to the detriment of the forum.

I think most would agree that it’s a community thing going on on this site as well as a car help page. You and your views/ posts would always be welcome.
Many of us in heee have limited skill set when looking under a bonnet. ( I’m in that category ) so I give fairly useless info.
The point is we all have a soft side for old rubbish and that’s the real thing.
You’d be missed.

One thing I will say about this part of your post.....

I used to be a moderator on a Vauxhall forum many years ago when I had a Mk3 Cavalier and then a Vectra B. I stopped moderating in 2014 when I sold the vectra after owning it for 8 years and bought a Mondeo ST.

But I'm still a regular poster on there. I did make a lot of friends through that forum and through club meets etc - but the social part of it aside, you never know when an experience you've had with your car may be useful information to someone else.

Don't say goodbye, just maybe au revoir ;)

Yeah, you don't need to leave just because you don't have a Seat anymore. Plus, I'm sure you have lots to contribute still to others as you have done over the years.

Noooooo! Sorry to hear your news. I think these mk1's are built to keep you loving & loathing them! I hope you get some good news with your turbo. I had to get rid of my other cupra as it was bellowing blue smoke and with the other one also needing money and love, I had to let go of it. I wish I didn't love these cars. I can't think of anything else I'd want to own or drive, but I do feel like it wants to test me frequently!
I wish you all the best with the next few weeks. Not an easy situation at all.
Good luck.
