Car aced the service today, no problems at all, should sail through the MOT next month. The brakes will need doing by the end of the year however

The turbo - The VNT mechanism is squeeking but the turbo itself is still pulling ok. Cleaned it out a bit and on the way home, no squeeks. Result. Cars getting a new map on the 1st November (should prolong the life a bit as well & become a bit smoother) So all in all a good day.

right well, i finally got fed up of the screetch from the turbo so i gave it to a local garage i trust who took the car apart aand diagnosed it as a damaged impeller. something has gone through it apprently......

right well, an opportunity arose on TDisport to go and do a photoshoot event with Rockingham Speedway to help advertise the circuit for trackdays for next season. needless to say, jumped at it lol. I havent got the on track pictures sorted yet but these where from the paddock and the area around the track.,

More will come through in time but was a really good day, and have got a full free taster session with wet grip coming up in february/March sort of time as a thank you so really looking forward to that now. Just gotta get her running properly and it'll be happy days.

New Plans

Ok so since I'm nearly at the point where by i can change the turbo and get my power back i've decided to reconsider my plans for the car. As you all have been aware i've always been tempted by the 500 Abarth but for the time being and doing 86 miles a day to and from work running it will cost silly amounts. So the car stays, unless i win the lottery and move abroad :cartman:. What this does mean now tho is that I have decided upon my future plans and where i want to take the car so here we go:

Performance
  • PD150 Turbo (non hybrid)
  • Piper Turbo Back Exhaust (Twin Jet)
  • Whiteline RARB
  • FMIC
  • Custom Map to save the clutch for as long as possible

Cosmetic/Interior
  • Audi TT Front Seats (need more support)
  • Retrim of Above Seats
  • Consistant Tint Alround
  • Winter Wheels and Tyres
  • Heko Wind Deflectors
  • Upgraded Stereo With Bluetooth (and maybe Sat Nav) with wheel controls
  • Xenon Replacement Front Lights (Allows HID's to be used Legally as i've got all the other equipment)
  • Refurb on standard wheels (show Stoppers)

The style is very much going to be OEM+ i dont want the car to look anything out of the ordinary to the untrained eye as at the moment it gets alot of really positive comments on how it looks - ie good sporty but not over the top. But with the above changes for it to go like stink when i want it too.

Deadline Date - April 2013 - By this time the finance will be paid off and i can get my own pad and the car will also be close to 100k miles so no point going OTT.

T-Minus 18 months

sounds like a plan!...my man!

I'm at your final stage now...just finished paying for the car....and do about 50 mile round trip for work so really considering whether to carry on with the car or to trade it in for something in the new year!

all your plans are the same as what I have done...except the TT seats. Would really recommend the turbo-back, RARB, HEKO wind deflectors and upgraded stereo....it has really improved my motor

Good luck with it all

Plans sound good! When you say 'Xenon Replacement Front Lights (Allows HID's to be used Legally as i've got all the other equipment)' do you mean the OEM factory fitted xenons? And if so where are you planning on buying them from?

eBay - i know the seller who stocks them and they are around £90p/c for RHD cars with the black backing, cant say no at that price, but they arent going to be the first on the list.

Does that include the ballast and bulbs? If so thats a brilliant price!

ballasts and bulbs are available for an additional £90 a side (Still £180 a corner which is bloody brilliant),

However i have been reliably informed that inorder for HID's to be street legal they have to be in a projector style headlamp which the standard cars dont have. so with a little help of a man who knows electrics the reconing is that we could use my current HID's in the projector style lamps. It's going to be a bit of a homebrew by the looks of it, or it could be easier than we think so there's only one way to find out ;)

Thats a really good price! Might look into that in the new year!

I knew HID/LED/xenon headlights had to have washers and auto levelling but didn't know they had to have projectors? Some newer civics (space ship shape) have factory fitted HID's with reflectors?

the problem with HID's is that the beams scatter and dont give the constant and solid beam of light that and can prove dangerous. Cars designed to work with HID bulbs will be able to control the light better and how it gets onto the road. I would assume the civics have some kind of method of stopping the beam from scattering??

this video explains most of what im on about:
