Cheers for the comments guys, I will he very sad to see it go, I just fancied a change due mainly to how these cars are sadly now perseved, ie chavs & knobs trying it on ALL the time, the suspension is appalling and needs a complete overhaul (I know what to.change to tho), the road noise is daft (I had the Alana on 20 today listening to Lego house and I.could.barely hear it through the road noise) the power folding mirrors, that now don't stop on either side unless the temp is above 9 degrees, the list goes on, but if it falls through I won't be disappointed to keep it at all lol because for all its faults it's great fun, even if it's lets face it fundamentally alot wrong with it
The Volvo was selected based upon uniqueness, style, comfort, kit, basic drive, tuning options also it's not a mk4 Ibiza, I've had 3 of them now and having test driven other vags I wasn't impressed at all.
what it will mean is that the £2000 Im hopefully spending on obtaining the Volvo and the mods etc will be spent on the Ibiza and making it better and more comfy lol as sound proofing would be needed lol

You sound like me lol! (complaining about road noise). It is a joke, you can't hold a civilised conversation in the ibiza - it's a shouting contest between you and your passengers. Don't get me started on the suspension either - how on earth seat thought it would be ok to fit this to a modern car beggars belief! I have sound deadened my car throughout apart from behind the bulkhead and it's still too noisey, although much better. There is a lot of work involved to make the ibiza quiet (i've done lots of research on this) - the entire cabin needs deadened, then a layer of closed cell foam on top of that, then on top of the foam a layer of mass loaded vinyl to block air borne noise and that needs applied on the floorplan, behind the doors/quarters, bulkhead and roof. On top of that, carpeted wheelarches and lots of rattle/squeak prevention foam is needed for the interior trim. This could easily cost £500+ and it's not worth it imo. Also, the wind noise cannot be sorted due to the shape of the car.
Have to disagree with the rep the ibiza gets as you suggested, i've not really had much bother - mostly white van men ha ha
The volvo will be built like a tank and should be comfy and quiet. Good luck with it all![]()
Agree 100% on the noise, I was the final straw today as I.was coming back from my fa coaching course, I was tired wet battered and bruised and all I wanted to do was relax with some chill out music on...... Hahaha dream on that weren't going to happen, my back is throbbing my head is pounding
down here it's daft MK, Northampton wellingborough etc is full of people like that and because I work late I end up in the middle of the Chav rush hour, could just be a location thing and lets face it, it's hardly a subtle car as its bright red and looks fast, even tho it really is that quick lol,
The Volvo is lovely and quite I took it on an hour long test drive with the salesman through all different conditions, the ride is firm without it being uncomfortable, good road noise reduction, well built with good materials, and good basic kit, it's also subtle but when needed its fast. There are downsides, like the boot is a joke lol, servicing is silly money, it's more expensive to tax and insure, its on 18" alloys so tyres are expensive, it has I believe a dpf, and it has a Volvo badge but for those faults the pro's are better and I can have a laff and wear a flat cap to piss off the chavs when the mood takes me as they just got burned by a Volvo lol

Very nice upgrade Phil! You've changed your mind from a Fiat 500 to this![]()
an hour long test drive with the salesmen with you? Must have been tense lol!
Surely there will be volvo independant garages you can use instead of mds for servicing?
After a long drawn out afternoon within the dealer it has been decided that the Ibiza is staying now, they moved there monthly figure up by £70 which took it out of budget, regretable as it was a lovely car, if they come back by the 20th with a revised offer that doesn't require a £3000 deposit then I'll have it, but otherwise car stays

How did they move up by £70 - thats quite an increase? (over 36 months?)
Shame you didn't get it anyhow. Your only wanting 4600 for yours? Seems cheap, i've sold mine for 6700.
I would have thought it would have been better value for you if you have to get finance to get a new/nearly new car? Personally, i wouldn't want to be owing big amounts of money of a 2+ year old car
thats a shame mate, the volvo is such a nice car
Shame phil
As i said if they did the T5 Petrol in Polestar blue i would buy one
Just read your last few posts! Would have been a shame to see the beefa go when you've just spent all that money on it! Volvo is a nice car but enjoy the new toys on the beefa.
Well it's very much staying lol, I've now ordered:
* double din Pioneer sat nav
* new floor mats (mine are torn)
Booked in for:
* Piper turbo back with 1 silencer and decat
* 80k service
* Pd150 fitting
* Custom map
And I'm torn on the decision of either paying for the insurance in 1 lump sum or using that £600 and buying an uprated clutch...... I'm thinking buy the clutch as it's not often I'll have this opportunity to buy it and the insurance this year is only £60p/m which is £50p/m less than last year with everything declared......

Wow, not hanging about then! The plans sound good Phil, would deffo go for the clutch as well as you will need it once you get the PD150 on and it's mapped!
My mates just bought a Ibiza Cupra TDI and is getting his mapped today at P-Torque. Should be running near enough same figures as you once youve had the stuff above fitted and mapped! 200bhp / 300 ft-lb+. Car will feel rediculously quick then. It's only a small light car but with all that shove, jeez!
Post a vid when you get the turbo back on, would be interested to hear what they sound like on a diesel.
