Things I have discovered about the car.

Looks like I switched off keyless accidentally too. Key was in my pocket and it stopped working. Was waving my foot under the boot on company car park, looking like an idiot. It wasn't the best premiere of my car at work ;-)

I've realized that even in manual mode, car will execute a kickdown. To be honest I find it strange but I guess they don't trust us enough to use manual mode.

If you switch to manual mode and press the pedal completely (fully + kickdown), the car downshifts to accelerate. From what I could gather in my short test, if you don't depress to kickdown, the car stays in the same gear (in M).

The same behaviour seems to be present in other modes as well but the effect is not as strong. In S if you do a kickdown, you get 2-3 downshifts to accelerate. If you just press fully without kickdown the car might go down a gear or two but in a smooth fashion.

OK. ACC question for you folks.
I've previously used this a lot in my previous Golf R and found it great for long journeys. It used to prevent 'undertaking' accidently in, say, busy motorway traffic (ie slowing the car when it detected a car to the right - I'm in the UK 😉). Now, the Formentor seems to do the same, however it also does it when passing cars on the left, ie performing a legal overtaking manoeuvre ffs! Anyone else found this? Am aware a few of you are not fans of the ACC in the Formentor - is the reason?! Did another long drive to Bristol and back from Lincoln today and it did it most of the way, I was in Comfort mode mainly. There did seem to be some instances where it didn't do this and I may have turned off something.
Any ideas /comments greatly received before I complain to Cupra/SEAT as it shouldn't do this.

Yes, it slows down sometimes, when it discovers car on the other lane. You can see it on the dash, it shows on the side. I don't think you can switch it off or change. I have all assitants switched off and there's no change in settings, while I drive.

That's why I hate ACC and it spoils the car for me. I have to constantly correct its actions, accelerate when it slows down for no reason, etc. I don't think tech is aware of undertaking as such, because there are legitimate reasons to drive faster than cars on your right. I also doubt car would adjust this if you go to Europe.

And today: other car changed lane to leave motorway and then slowed down while already on the slip road, to the left of me. Then my car brakes heavily from 70mph, because of this.

It's extra work to drive Formentor and I'm already thinking about my next daily (without gadgets), after this lease ends.

I even thought about sticking tape to the front radar, but then it will probably disable cruise control, because it won't be fully functional. I don't think i can win with the tech and drive the car, they way I want and like, instead of being zombie driver managed by my car.

I'm not having these issues but I do think it's the way of the future ( not saying it's a good thing)

I loved ripping the arse off an unmarked police escort cosworth back in the day, but I do I appreciate some of the current driver aids, not sure I want to give up much more control to the car. However, that might change as I get (even) older and it becomes something to get me from a to b

Thanks for the feedback Agnes. I've just read the manual and it specifically states that it should only happen when passing cars on the left (wrong) side, so I think they've got it set up incorrectly for UK cars. The Golf never had this issue and the hardware, I'm pretty certain, will be the same. I'm going to contact Cupra and see what they say. Snapshot off manual extract :

I undertake cars all the time on the M25 (middle lane hoggers) and I don't think it slowed me down too often. It's possible, it's not correctly calibrated. The same, as speed signs are changing randomly to km. Even today, when I switched ignition on, to take pictures for sat nav thread, it showed me 45 limit instead of 30.

If you change front assist to 'late' then does this help solve your problem if closing down when a car is on a slip road? I changed my front assist from the medium setting to late as it was breaking me saying I was going to have a collision when a car in front was turning and I had ample room to go past at normal speed.

I switch off Front Assist at every start. In described situation, that happened yesterday, car was already on slip road and started braking there. So there was no reason for me to brake or slow down at all.

That was on A3 with 70 mph speed limit so it braked quite heavily, until I pressed the pedal to accelerate.

I re-read manual again and it looks like there's either ACC or nothing. There's not even speed limiter, it only goes together with standard Cruise.

The start/stop is hooked up to the radar. If you have traffic in front when they set off the radar detects this and your engine kicks in.

I was thinking it is a mistake. Just like they had SYNC for AC work like in LHD cars, it looks like ACC is behaving as this is a LHD car. Make sure to query Cupra about this.

I really like that they added this.

My car is in for the problem solving software update today.
Got a FZ2 as a courtesy car.
Mine is a FZ Edition so has the Brembo brakes, the FZ2’s brakes are not good - really lacking in bite.
Brembo’s are very much an option worth ticking.

Well I guess your one of the first to try both the VZ and VZ2, shame about your thoughts but understandable as it can't be expected that the VZ2 has as good a brakes as the VZ otherwise what is part of the extra cash your paying for. The larger brembos and the cross drilled discs obviously do a better job.

Guess us VZ2 owners will just have to be a bit jealous and take into consideration our braking power a bit more than you guys with the VZ's.
