sad to hear so many of you are dis-illusioned with the cupra and so many have had problems.

I'm currently looking to buy a mk3 (have a mk2)so am keeping an eye on this, but think that many are over-priced for what is now a 7 year old car.

According to Parkers used guide, a 20vt in good condition (private sale) is priced at just over £3k.

not trying to be picky but i've seen ads on pistonheads looking for up to £6k, the cars are just not worth that, regardless of what mods have been done to it

in norway a standard one coast 12500£!!!that`s what i payed for mine and with all upgrades it has coast me 17500++£
one mine i have changed one maf,tho wheelberings.(gone change again[:@] )and cv joint.thats all for a 2 years period and oil change/oil filter. the rest i have spent is upgrade parts.new paint.wheels other things.expensive here in norway:censored:
love my car.it`s a little pocket rocket[B)]

People do astound me. If you want a car that never breaks down, go get yourself a Nissan micra or some other piece of shop mobility. Every car has issues especially a performance car.

As for people saying the cupra looks like a boy racer car and they're too grown up...what? I couldn't give a crap what other people think of me in my cupra. I used to own a metro that had a 1.8 elise engine and all I cared about was the smile it put on my face when I drove it. Just like I do in the cupra.

LOL!!!!!

good luck getting someone to part with a decent condition one for 3k!!!!!!!!!!!!

you can pick up a dog for parkers values sure...

Hammer, nail, head.

I haven't spent over 12k on mine just to give it away when someone argues what Parkers says it's worth. True, you never get the money back on mods, but when it's fully specced it's a slightly different story. Not that I'll be letting go of mine anytime soon anyway. You get what you pay for

hehe, you say that now..

then remap... and exhaust....

R32 nice choice.. BUT remap and Exhaust would likely happen... certainly the exhaust to hear that lovely sound

yea i might just do the flapper mod tho and leave it at that

well I'm truely fecked then

O dear! lol

i agree mate when i first bought mine it was a prestige car to have for my age and an expensive car not the norm like saxos and corsas but as time went on i owned the car for 3 years it looks aged even tho the car had 10k put into it was fast and in outstanding condition. The car was very reliable the only things that really did my head in was the front bumper hit the ground alot but that was the only way i could have the car because of its looks and the rattles on the interior.
The mk3 cupra then dropped loads in price some going for 2k so the people that had saxos now started buying them so it was no longer a prestige car and like you say your alot older in now a boy racer car.

my car was a 1.9 20vt (bored out) ko3s hybrid 90k on the clock in mint condition i had the car up for sale for 6k, as much as wanted close to the asking price nobody was willing to pay it because there are so many up for sale with the same power/mod just less money, even tho they did have there faults sold it for £5450 in the end if that helps anyone.

by the way im not say that if you own a mk3 cupra your a boy racer

im so with you all the way and glad you know what i mean and how i feel

LOL!!!!!

lol yea its like people expect something for nothing

Well i brought mine from the dealers in middlesbrough coming up 4 years ago now with 2 years warranty & guess what went in the 1st 2 months of ownership.......Turbo :funk:
Took the car to my local dealer & the bill came to a whopping £1200 inc labour
Next to go wrong with the car was coil packs & overheating issues [:@] back to the dealers again under warranty :funk: Next was clutch pedal snapping then a few months after that it was the clutch but by this time the warranty was up :censored:

I also drive my car every single day which is a 25mile round trip so in my eyes the car has done well.

With me going through all of this i still love the car & aint thought once about selling it

just saying that some of the beeza's I've seen advertised in the last few months are (in my opinion) overpriced.

Where else am I supposed to go for a vaulation
